how to import bills with custom fields

I have just upgraded to QBO Advanced and started using Batch Transactions to import invoices and bills.  Prior to QBO Adv'd we used Transaction Pro.  The invoice side in Batch Transactions does include custom fields.  The bills side does not have that option.  Custom fields are set up for bills but there is no option in Batch Transactions to add them.  Any suggestions on how to import bills with custom fields?

Thank you in advance.

how to import bills with custom fields

Hey, Gina62. I can help you import your bills with custom fields in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Currently, the option to import bills is not available in QBO US. However, you can manually enter your bills by following these steps:

  1. Select + New. And then, Bill.
  2. From the Vendor dropdown, select a vendor.
  3. From the Terms dropdown, select the bill's terms. This is when your vendor expects to be paid.
  4. Enter the Bill dateDue date, and Bill no. as they're recorded on the bill.
  5. Enter the bill details in the Category details section.
  6. Enter the Amount and tax.
  7. If you plan to bill a customer for the expense, select the Billable checkbox and enter their name in the Customer field.
  8. Select Save and close when done.

You can also consider exploring third-party apps as an alternative solution.

how to import bills with custom fields

Thank you for your reply but this appears to be how to enter a bill.  I am asking about importing bills with custom fields.  We can import through Transaction Pro but are trying to use the features inside QBO.  We can import through Batch Transactions, but there are no options for custom fields there.  When you have large batches of bills (like 75+) it is very helpful to import.  So my question is regarding imports only, not a manual entry.  Any suggestions would be great.  I have turned in feedback and even created a case because I think it is unusual to have the availability on the invoice side but not the bill side.

Thanks for any suggestions you can give.

Hello.  Thank you for your reply but this appears to be how to enter a bill.  I'm asking about how to import bills with custom fields in QBO Advanced.  We can use Transaction Pro to import but we are trying to use the features inside QBO Adv'd.  We can use Batch Transactions to import but custom fields are not available on bills.  I have turned in feedback and created a case because I think it's unusual that custom fields are available on invoices in Batch Transactions but not on bills.  I'm just asking if there's any other way to import bills, any workarounds, etc. to include custom fields when importing.

Thank you for any suggestions.
