One more thing, I like my new method is better because now I have a naming sequence for all my documents that makes sense to me. I can find documents now faster without even using QBs. The old way it was really hard to find documents without going though QBs.
Open your mind
Reefseeker,
I just did the drag and drop. There is nothinng faster about this. I still have to save my document on my computer and give it a name, save it to designated file. Then go back to QB, click on attach, look for the dxxx file and then attach. I can either click on it and save or click on it, then drag and drop. Saving the file directly to QB was so much easier. This work around is 8000 steps. Just saying...... If I had a smilely face and stick my tongue out at you, I would but I don't. Happy New Year.
By the way, what is with the Reefseeker name?
And I don't know about y'all but my accountant cannot see attachments when I drag and drop. Which is useless in that regard.
I use the name by scanner default, I don't change the name my scanner gives it. It's just a date, after I scan documents it auto pops up at the top of my list of files, I grab that file and drag it to the QBs already open window. I never change file location. For me I sent up directory under company location name and called it SCAN .. I put a shortcut on my desktop and have it show up on explorer by default also. I use that folder for important documents also because it's backup every night.
Did you see the video I posted on here? check it out
I did the math, the only extra motion is the drag and drop.. if you set it up correctly, setup took me 1 minute. one time
Intuits solution to a problem that they created is senseless. My company uses the desktop version, therefore downloading an app for COMPANY on my personal device DOES NOT WORK. I now have to do more work than before to save documents into quickbooks. Not sure what the thinking (or lack of) was for Intuit but you have now created more work for people, more steps to do one thing that was not necessary.
If Intuit cared about their customers they will bring this feature back and stop assuming what a customer wants and maybe begin to listen to us - YOUR CUSTOMER
Hey ReefSeeker,
I can't help but to imagine you are riding the 10' waves in beautiful Hawaii. What is the story about your name?
Scuba diver! and love taking pictures underwater, since 1974 and still diving. Love Indonesia the best, go every year for at least 11 day boat trips.
Now you know.. LOL some pictures www.reefseeker.net
Wakatobi, Raja Ampat, or another hidden place?
Great pictures! Thank you for sharing. You look like a nice guy so stop advocating for QB's. They need to bring back the scan manager. Drag and drop is not easier. We want what we had before.
What she said!
Well said! Intuit does not want customers who valued the Scan Manager feature. If they did, they would have never removed it in the first place. The door is wide open to a competitor who can see the opportunity.
Yes Raja Ampat and so many other places I lost track. Komodo, Banda Sea, Fak Fak, Alor, Bali, Lombok, Missool, Cenderawasih Bay and Red Sea and Maldives. I can't remember them all anymore.
Not trying to help Intuit. Just workaround for us. Waiting for them we might be all gone.
I have called QB, I have written letters but they don't care. It is a huge inconvenience and a lot more added work for everyone who used the Scan Manager feature. I still get upset &/or irritated everyday when I begin scanning. Intuit simply does not care because we continue to use QB's and continue to pay them every month. I think if enough people left because of scanning, they might wake up. Changing over to a new accounting software is a huge project and costly. So, we suffer and continue on.
SHAME ON INTUIT FOR MAKING OUR JOB MORE DIFFICULT AND FOR NOT CARING.
Sharon8975 - I changed platforms for reasons, in part, over the unannounced discontinuation of Scan Manager and Intuit's refusal to bring it back. If you are a decision maker in regard to which accounting system your company uses, then be an agent for change. Otherwise, you have no choice but to suffer in silence.
What did you change to?
You can explore Netsuite or Accumatica. Purchase a third-party conversion service if you have the budget. Otherwise, start from scratch in the new program and use the trial version to access your historical data in QB Desktop for good.
Thank you for the information..
A bit pricey for my people, but perhaps a good solution will surface.
Take care.
I don't understand why they got rid of the scan manager. It was such a great feature! I have a lot of documents that I attach and now it is a pain. I really want to know their reasoning.
I have tried asking them several times. They do not want to answer this question. I have given up! That is why I decided to stay with QuickBooks 2021, which supports scanners.
Staying with 2021 is nice if you never have to email invoices and statements. Not moving on they shut that feature off.
Easy workaround for the scanner. Painful workaround for emailing
Because the company that supported the software that enabled scanning sold to someone else. Hence no more updates, no more scan manager. And bad news for those of us, like me, holding on to 2021 - its going to be no longer supported by mid year in 2024 and we will also lose loan manager for those of us and our accountants that loved managing our loans. Thank you QB...
Like there is no one smart enough at Intuit to make it work. I highly doubt that is the reason.
It is painfully clear in my mind they want everyone in the online program.
I am sure dis-satisfaction has been accounted for in the calculations, if there are any.
Perhaps someone will come up with something.
It is too bad.
Good luck everyone.
Not sure why you can’t email, I am in 2021, the only feature I switch out is payroll, everything else is working fine. For me direct attachment was more important. Actually intuit is on the loosing team with me, they lost my 3 years upgrade (now yearly) and my payroll subscription, I don’t think I’ll move from 2021, at least for now, all that I need is there. One thing for sure is I am not going with the online version, by the way, I think that’s their objective with this changes.
