Scan Manager discontinuation

They do want us out of desktop, which I will hold on to with every fiber of my being!

I have posted in another forum, and one of the QB employees did contact me and tell me to do this:

Help>send feedback>put in your concern. If we bombed them everyday with howling about scan manager, think we could get some forward motion?

Problem is, all we get for reporting problems is for you to tell us to report to someone else through the application.  I have done that, and still no one is listening to ALL of us who are complaining!  I guarantee that this many people were not complaining about Scan Manager for you to take this feature out.  This was a feature that we all used, why take it out in the first place?  We scan many documents and would NEVER use a phone camera to take photos of each page.  How unprofessional.  Just please stop passing the buck and put it back !  I cannot roll back to 2021, as I upgraded from 2019, because they made me, as QB was no longer going to support 2019.  I don't want to ever use the QB online.  I tried it on a friend's business and did not like it.  Also, I don't trust "the cloud" to keep my information confidential.

Don't waste your time, scanner is not coming back, this is done by design, they want us to move to online, I lay it out on comment before.

The other problem with online is the internet.  We could lose it for days after this hurricane.

I have a fish farm that could not do anything for a week last storm. Not everyone is tech savvy, and/or portable.

I hate when people send me phone pics.  They are huge, many times, and take forever to fix.

OK, I'm going very unprofessional here because I've had enough of the useless program I'm forced to use.

 

Quickbooks does not listen to anything that is said on this community forum. It's a useless tool made up of a bunch of people that don't give a crap about what your needs are as well as the BullS**t Send Feedback Online feature.

It was heartening to read your post and the many others who had a similar experience and reaction to the discontinuation of Scan Manager without notice.  The Intuit Team really doesn't care about their affected customers, otherwise they would have done something about it by now.

I think I was one of the first to complain about this. My son in law works for Intuit and has tried to get an answer for me and they ignore him as well. They really don't give a s***.

This was just emailed to me, I don't know why because I specifically stated in my previous post that I do not want to use my cell phone to take pictures of my documents.  I have some customers that have over 100 documents per job!  Not gonna take 120 pics with my personal cell phone and somehow figure out how to get them transferred to quickbooks.  That is beyond absurd to even suggest that.  And I really do not need anyone to keep suggesting there are 3rd party apps and other solutions out there to scan to quickbooks.  I am not stupid, I found an alternate solution before I even came to this forum. I posted to the forum because I want the QB's ptb to know that I am not happy with their insensitivity and heartlessness to think that anyone in their right mind would want to take 120+ pictures with their personal cell phone for each and every job.

The Intuit people who manage this forum are impotent when it comes to helping restore Scan Manager.  If they were at all effective, the problem would have been fixed a month after they rolled out the 2022 version.  I suspect that Intuit will eventually correct this mistake but by then they will have sustained much damage to their reputation with those of us who used this feature.  Maybe we former users of Scan Manager are a small percentage of their user base and Intuit simply doesn't care enough to fix the problem.

My bet is they either add it to the Advanced online version, make it available only in Enterprise, or bring it back and charge a fee for it again. 

I do not think we are the group they are playing to now. 

New users will not know what they are missing and will be happy with what they are given.

Or, they are laying the groundwork for a future where we are not needed at all, playing solely to business owners, automating all services through Intuit provided apps.

My company is moving to SAP so I won't be aggravated by the QB people anymore.  Hopefully the rest of you can find an alternative feature-rich program that includes a built-in scan feature.

This is not feasible for us - some of our documents that we attach are 100+ pages.  We cannot take a picture of 100 pages and expect to maintain our workload.  PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE bring back the Scan within Quickbooks - Attach for attaching documents / Scan Manager.

Intuit has left its QB customers "swing in the wind" on this issue for over a year now.  They have already caused damage that we won't be getting reimbursed for.

I was wondering the same thing, I read through the 2023 features/changes, but no mention of the scan manager.  But I do not think anything related to it was mentioned for 2022 either (i.e. the addition of the cell phone phot/scan process), so who is going to be the first to install 2023 and find out??

Nobody should upgrade to 2023 until Intuit makes clear what has been added or removed from the software.  
Who knows what they might have done to the functionality.

Let me share some updates about the Scan Manager.

 

The Scan Manager has been discontinued in QuickBooks Desktop 2022. This means that this feature is no longer available in the 2023 version.

 

I understand how useful this feature is in scanning your receipts and documents. To help improve your experience, I recommend sending feedback to our Product Development Team. Here's  how:

 

  1. Go to the Help menu at the top.
  2. Select Send Feedback Online.
  3. Click Product Suggestion, then choose a feedback type and product area.
  4. Enter your product comments, name, and email address (optional).
  5. When you're done, click Send Feedback.

In the meantime. you'll want to visit our Desktop App Market to look for a third-party app that offers that can scan documents in QBDT. Additionally, you can read this article to learn more about the new features and enhancements that we've added to the 2023 version: New and improved features in QuickBooks Desktop Plus 2023.

"Some customers" have requested to used their mobile for the scannng application?  These people cannot be  a company with many vendors, much invenory or as many customers as most of us using desktop. If they were and used  the scan feature like the rest of us, they would be screaming too. Your suggestion for people to use their phones (or the their employer would have to buy each employee a phone) is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard.  Does Quickbooks want all their employees taking pics of their companies information with their personal phone and taking it with them when they leave the office? I hardly think so.  Come on. "pull your head out" and use some common sense!
