Join nowI am currently using Quickbooks for Mac 2019.
I am trying to send a file to my accountant and the only option I have is to save file for accountant and that creates a .qbb file which my accountant cannot open. He is asking me to send a .qbw file. Where do I find that or how do I create it ?
Thank you for your help in advance.
Does he run QB Desktop on Windows? Which QB Desktop year version does he have?
Welcome to the Community, PK71. I appreciate your detailed information.
To verify my understanding, is your accountant using QuickBooks Desktop for Windows? If so, you'll need to export the backup file for Windows computers.
Here's how:
Once the backup's been created, you can send a copy of it to your accountant and they'll be able to open it in their version of QuickBooks.
You can also move company (.qbw) files to QuickBooks for Windows if you'd prefer to. If you'd like to keep your main company file to use on QuickBooks for Mac, you can create a copy of it first, then move it to QuickBooks for Windows.
If there's any additional questions, I'm just a post away. Have a wonderful Friday!
yes he is running QB desktop for windows. Not sure what version.
You need to answer these questions
1. Which QB Desktop year version he has
2. Does he need to send the backup file back to you later
3. Which MacOS you run
I asked him, he says that they have all the versions, old and new.
I can only send a ,qbb file and that is not opening , he ias asking for a .qbw file, how do i get that ?
He does not need to send me the back up file back.
I am running Mac OS Monterey 12.6.7 and am running QB 2019 for Mac Version V18.0.14 R15
Thats what I did and they say that they cannot open it since it is a .qbb file and he is asking for a .qbw file.
Ensure your accountant has QB Desktop 2019 Pro/Premier/Accountant.
Then you can follow these steps
Sign in to QuickBooks Mac as the admin.
Go to File menu and select Export. Select To QuickBooks for Windows.
If you get a prompt to verify before you back up, select Verify.
Name the file and choose the folder to save it in. Then, select Save.
Note: Make sure you don't add special characters in the file name.
Enter and confirm your password, then select OK. Select OK again.
Move the file to your Windows computer. Most people do this with a USB flash drive, online storage, or email if the file is small enough.
Restore the file in QuickBooks for Windows.
If your accountant can't restore the backup file, you will need to isolate the problem. Open the sample file on your QB Desktop and repeat the process to send the backup file. Did your accountant encounter the same error message?
