Stop Intercompany Notifications

Once you've created a relationship between company files, it can't be removed. If you created a backup before linking your companies, you can restore the backup to a time before your relationship was created to remove it.
 

Here's how:
 

1. In the top menu bar, go to File, then Open or Restore Company.
2. Click Restore a backup copy and hit Next.
3. Press Local Backup, then Next.
4. Browse your computer for the backup company file.
5. Highlight it and click Open. If you open your backup in the same folder as your existing file, you may overwrite its data. To avoid overwriting anything, you can rename the existing company or backup so their names are unique.
6. Select Save.

The reason why you keep seeing the intercompany pop-up notifications is that you have already created a relationship between company files. As mentioned by my peer, ZackE, above, once you establish a relationship, it cannot be undone.

If you secured a backup copy of your company file before you created a relationship, you can follow the steps above to restore it and avoid unnecessary notifications.

I recognize how beneficial it is for you and your business to have the option to unlink the relationship between company files in QBDT. However, the option to unlink it to remove the pop-up notifications is currently unavailable.

While this option isn't possible, I recommend sending a feature request directly to our Product Development Team. It allows them to review your suggestions and include them in future updates. Here's how:

1. Click the Help menu located at the top.
2. Select Send Feedback Online then click Product Suggestion.
3. Type in your feedback or feature request.
4. Click the Send Feedback button.

The pop up that I just got was, "You may have new notifications for intercompany transactions that require your action. Do you want to view them now?" There were not any new transactions. There never are, but we continue to get these pop ups. Even if you can't sever the relationship, why can't we turn off these notifications?

Run Verify/Rebuild Data utility.. Did you encounter any error message?

I'll help you clarify things about the intercompany notifications you're receiving, CathyD1. 

You're getting notifications from your company files because of a connection you've established between them. Once you've set up this connection, you can't undo it. These notifications will keep appearing if you make intercompany transactions or have pending approvals. But, if you haven't already, I suggest using the Verify and Rebuild tool. This tool can identify common problems in your company file and help fix them. 

To verify your company data, follow these steps:

1. Click on Window and then select Close All.

2. Select File, then choose Utilities.

3. Tap Verify Data. 

Here's how to rebuild your company file data:

1. Go to File, Utilities, then click Rebuild Data.

2. Follow the prompt instructions and select OK.

3. Choose where to save your backup, then hit OK. 

4. Enter a new name for the file in the File name field. Tap Save.

We are considering using this feature, but your query concerns me, as we also have systems that we sync to Quickbooks Enterprise (Mineral Tree, Emburse/Certify, and we are considering RAMP). Since you said that the popups were interfering with other software, I am wondering if you were able to resolve this issue.

Your post makes us afraid to even try this feature, though Intercompany is a thorn in our sides as we have lots of it.

Why did you decide not to use the feature after trying it out? Can you share how the popups were interfering with other software?

We use software with Mineral Tree also and the intercompany pop ups do not interfere with it. It is not a problem at all. The issue is with other software that we have integrated with QuickBooks called Smart Service. I don't personally use Smart Service so I can't tell you what happens, but I know that it is irritating to the people that do.

The intercompany feature wasn't helpful to us at all. We do job costing and you can't do that with the intercompany transactions.

The intercompany feature did not interfere with other services that use Mineral Tree for us, but it just wasn't helpful. We do job costing and you can't do that with the intercompany transactions. It didn't do much of what I thought that it would. The intercompany popups interfere with another software that we have integrated called Smart Service. I am not sure how, because I don't personally use it, but I know it is a big irritant to those that do. I think that it kicks them out of Smart Service.
