I'm running Enterprise 2001 just so that I can use the scan manager, but Intuit will discontinue support/use of QB 2021 on May 31, 2024. If the 2024 release does not have a new scan function, we'll have to jump ship to a different platform. Its utterly ridiculous to expect anyone to have to use a cell phone to upload images to QB. Scanning is a fundamental aspect of any business, so there is no excuse for this blatant disregard for their customers.
Lydia must be on intuits payroll. The work around is a complete pain. I have had to make approximately 55 new files, and then make dozens upon dozens of files within those files to keep my scanned documents organized so I can find the file I need to attach to Quickbooks. This is not a matter of two extra clicks.
I wrote on another page about how the CEO of Quickbooks, Sasen Goodarzi was asked what he feels is most important for his employees to be successful. He said "SPEED". To provide his employees with the tools to make their job easier and more efficient. Well it is clear the payroll cost is his biggest issue and providing his employees with the tools to get their job done within a reasonable time will cut the cost of payroll. When he discontinued Scan Manager, he took away a very important tool that made sense for small businesses around the world and INCREASED the amount of time it takes to complete the documentation required by business owners. Sasen Goodarzi DID NOTHING BUT MAKE OUR JOB MORE DIFFICULT.
I strongly suggest that Sasen Goodarzi should hear from you about how he made your job more difficult and time consuming. Taking away Scan Manager and increasing our monthly premiums is such an insult.
I really wish they would listen also, but I have this feeling they are betting on the phone generation to bring them the revenue they want.
It will probably work, until AI puts all of them out to pasture, that should be the biggest concern for you younger people..
I had another call today from a dealer that is buying their final subscription in Desktop, to buy time to look for another software package. They will not switch to online, and can see where this is headed.
Many, not all, but many of my serious business people that actually are involved with their accounting, including most CPA's, will not promote QB online.
Good luck as always:)
After many of the poor reviews I have read about QB Online, I will stay with the Desktop version of QB also - which of course, Intuit does not want. Making a product that I have used 20+ years less user friendly but more expensive with each passing year is not good business sense. However, they obviously don't care.
Here is how I did a work around
First I made a folder under my company data- (so I can always have a place to keep all the scans)
In my scanner option (default for mine) I pick this folder and leave it as default, never change it. Even if I need to use another folder at a point in time I still leave it and just grab that file leave it, move it or copy it. Just makes things go faster)
So back to my process.
I do everything exactly like before, and when I get on Make Deposit, I click on Attach Document.. (so far NO extra clicks)
I open my scanner (extra click 1)
Scan documents (Not an extra click)
It auto opens what I just scanned
I drag the top file into the attach document window (I don't care what it names it, I leave the default name) So not a click it's a drag and drop but lets call it one extra Step to be fair.. (2)
Save (not an extra step)
So I guessed right, 2 extra Steps - Done. It's working, I been doing it for a month now.
Hope this help. If not let me know, I can do a video capture to show it.
Who are your clients switching to? I am sick that they make us pay over $500 a year for a subscription AND take away vital features like Scan Manager. I need a new software that can assimilate my QB info so that next year in May I can drop Intuit/QB forever. Any help is greatly appreciated. We are a small business and can't keep taking these hits from a company that does not listen or care about its customers.
I wrote about this long ago, and did my move long ago, I notice this in 2022 when the new subscription came out. I am convinced, not matter what we do scanner is not coming back, if that was the case it will be back by now. The trend is to move online, and you either go with that flow or stay out of the current, they are not kicking you out, but forcing you to do the move. What i did may not fit everybody, my renewal came around march 2022, notice the missing scanner, but when notice nothing move Intuit on the request to bring scanner back, not even answer from them, I decide to break away from them, difficult for me, being using QB since 2003. I stay on 2021, reverted back to it and manually re-enter all the transactions for around those two 1/2 month. I don't have any other service with them, they lose my every 3 year money for the quickbook update and my yearly payroll subscription. I keep running QB like before, including bank feeds, enter employee time here, and total hours are enter in another payroll company software (around same price i paid for QB payroll).
here is a video of how I am doing it. Yes you have to close one window, but actually clicking the scanning button is the same click in QBs anyway you judge.
Of course most of us know how to do it, just that it is more inconvenient, and really depends on your scanner.
The issue is why take away a popular feature, at least for me, and this is not the only thing.
I am soooo glad I am less than a few years from retirement.
Thank you for sharing though
Thanks for doing that. It's a good workaround.
I have a very fast scanner, a Fujitsu Fi-8170. It's a workhorse. When I use your method, it scans FASTER than if I am scanning from the QB interface, so doing the one extra step takes the same amount of time as if I was scanning inside of QB.
I am heavily invested in QB Enterprise with lots of add on programs that work thru QB, so I can't switch. This is a good workaround if you want to stay with QB
They're not bringing it back because the software company that provided the software that interfaced with QB sold to someone else. And QB doesn't care about the maybe 250 of us on here complaining...I think that's pretty obvious by now. But it's fun to vent here and try to help each other!
The only other loss I'm going to mourn was the loan manager. That got taken away too.
Cheers!
Have sent several messages to Sasen Goodarzi asking why was the scan manager taken away in 2022 & 2023. I am still waiting for her response. I have Enterprise Diamond edition where I get free upgrade to new editions of Quickbooks. I am still staying with 2021 because this edition has scanner inteface.
Very disapointed with Quickbooks management. (intuit)
It's because Nuance, who supplied the internal software for scanning sold. Have you ever noticed when you go to scan, the green dialog box that pops up? Look on the bottom (I think) it has a reference to Nuance.
Nuance sold to Microsoft. Google it. That's why they took it away.
That is a TERRIBLE excuse. It is not like that is the ONLY scan program they can get to integrate a NEEDED feature into their software. They just DON'T CARE!
I don't disagree. But to expect a corporate giant that is beholden to their stockholders to care is an oxymoron. It's small business owners who usually care. Intuit is just a bunch of people answered to their stockholders so they're going to do what's best for them, not for us.
sorry if this is repeat, I just don't see my reply
I had 2 of those Fujitsu 8170, got tried of the rollers falling apart and their software is horrible compared to Brothers ADS-2200 and at less than half the price. Brothers scanners are 100 times better.
Sorry to hear that. I own 3 of the 6170's and two of the 8170's and never had a problem with them once.
Our DMV department uses them too, I think that's a pretty good endorsement.
Different strokes for different folks I guess
I wouldn't call us oxymoron. I'd call us great paying customers who pay their salaries. Our input on this product they sell us is extremely important. Look what happened to Budlight and Target. THE PEOPLE SPOKE LOUD AND CLEAR.
Can you share Sasen Goodarzi's email with me?
Hi Sharon,
I'm sorry if you or anyone reading this thought I was calling someone an oxymoron.
What I said was
"to expect a corporate giant that is beholden to their stockholders to care is an oxymoron."
Yes we do need to speak out and tell them, I've done my share. But compared to the people who spoke out against Budlight and Target, we are a much smaller group of folks. I firmly believe in the power of one: one person fiercely fighting to right a wrong and winning...but on the other hand, I don't have the faith that a corporate giant like Intuit is going to listen.
That is Intuits CEO. Start sending emails to him because he obviously does not read this web page.
Sharon, they censored you. LOL. Removed the email address
I think if you put a space between each letter it will post.
Sasan Goodarzi is the CEO. Google his name and you will find his email address. He obviously does not read these complaints.
I wrote an email to the President of Intuit. I actually got a call from them. She wanted to know my concerns and I told her that discontinuing the Scan Manager was a really bad decision and why. I told her about all the complaints on this website and she should read our concerns. I doubt anything will change but this is the first time someone reached out to me from Intuit. Send emails to the President.
I downloaded the app and successfully used the receipt manager from the app to QB desktop. Once uploaded to QB the file extension is not recognized to open. How do you make it default to a pdf when you snap the photo in the app?
Go Sharon Go. Thanks for doing that!
