That article attached was regarding BAR CODE SCANNING.  Not the type of scanning we all used and still need, where we scan documents into our invoicing.  Where do they get these people???  There is NO support and they are not going back to giving us scanning capabilities because they lost their contract with the company that developed the software for Intuit. You would think a company this large could come up with their own programming?  No, because they want everyone to use the ONLINE version, which we never will.  Nor will we use CELL PHONES to take pictures of our documents to upload.  Unprofessional and absurd!

PPS26 ! I think you are in the wrong thread if you are looking for bar code scanning.  This one was about document scanning.

@Haresh

Consider to install the trial version of QBD 2024 to make sure.

I already left the platform. I am keeping a single user account for the time being.

You can use the trial version of QB Desktop for good to access your historical data if required.

I do not want to bar code scan.  I need to scan documents.  Why is this company so against giving us BACK what we need.  This is absolutely ridiculous.

I can't tell you why QB people took it out or why they are not listening. But I can tell you that I did a work around that is just as good as it was before. Maybe even better. I am using a brothers ADS-2200 document scanner. When I get to the screen Attach document just open that scanner software (same scanner I was using before) scan and save to PC, window pops up in same place every time and I just drag and drop into QB's. I have a folder under our company data and just keep all the docs in one place.  Works fine. Easier than complaining to QBs

2024 UPGRADE

SCAN MANAGER NOT COMING BACK.

This is what QB said about scanning for  2024 upgrade.

Attach documents to transactions faster by directly uploading them via the Quickbooks desktop MOBIL APP.

What a huge disappointment!

Not everybody want/need/can/like to do a work around, some want just to work like it use to be. Before was click attach, click scanner, click scan, rename (if you want) and save. It was done in one software, and all pop-up from the same window. Glad you like the way you are doing it.

Well I just downloaded Enterprise 24 and QB did not bring back scan manager.  This is JUST RIDICULOUS.  I am so upset.  What is wrong with this company?  How can so many of their customers complain and they just don't care.  Quickbooks has WRONGED US ON SO MANY LEVELS.

Sharon8975

This is not accurate.  Scanning documents did not resurface.  Quick book's 24 does not have the scan manager available to scan documents directly into QB's.  Scanning pages directly into QB's is a thing of the past.  It is never coming back. Sorry folks, its just the plain truth.  This company simply does not care about what its customers want or need.  Such a huge disappointment.

The reality is that Intuit is scrapping 31 years of innovative engineering and robust programming and replacing it with the anemic Online version. Scan Manager deletion is the tip of the iceberg. If anyone doubts this, try purchasing a new desktop Pro or Premier version of QB on the website, or anywhere for that matter.

Anemic is exactly what QB online is.  We used it for about 4 days and scrapped it to use the old format.

"Anemic" hits the nail on the head for a simple description of QB Online.  We scrapped using it after 4 days of torture.  Completely useless.

To be honest, the scanning thing was a shock at first but now using my work around it is actually a lot better than QBs one.  Does not take any longer and I have better control of documents.

QBs is cheap actually, if you want a customer program like this you would have to spend 25k for an already built one that you can customise or hire programmers to make one and that would cost you over 150k at the very least.  I know this is what I do for 35 years.

Not sure what your point on this discussion is, we use to have the direct scanning feature and it was removed, we don't know for sure why it was removed (we have ideas why), the matter is the software was strip down of features rather than added. And work around are just that, work around, to me the way it was did not need any change.

Cheap? not sure what you mean by that, no one here is trying to build they own software, many user are small companies with not need of specific software, through the years a generic like this one work for many, and keeping like it was is just what we ask.

Cheap compared to having a custom program made just for you and you get a say  in every detail of software. Hiring a full time programmer for just one year is over 100k at minimum. So it is cheap. What so we pay? 800 bucks a year?  No disrespect here.  Like I wrote here in the past, When you get to the screen where the scanner button was, just click your own open scanner that you were using, Scan your docs, save to PC (I use a folder under  my company file named scanner docs) save  it (have option open folder after scan) then just drag into QBs window. Done..!  It's not a big deal, and I like knowing exactly where all my docs are. You can also save in the same spot docs that deals with customer or deposits saved there. I think it's just as fast as before. I use it all day.

Not everyone is set up the same way - we run the QB Desktop on a remote cloud server (like Rightneworks, only we manage it).  The scanners are local.  This workaround of yours would force a lot of jockying back and forth bewtween a local PC and the VPN tunnel to the remote PC.  It's a royal pain to flip back and forth and there is no drag and drop with this setup.  So Intuit really caused a lot of issues for us with this simple tool being removed.  I understand the scanning software company was bought out but after 3 years and no attempted fix, it's just a plain middle finger to a lot of customers.  Scanning is a basic office function and to not support it does show they are ultimately seeing their future as a cloud-based SAAS company.

QB Enterprise is really not that great at all - it's light years behind the big corporate entries but as someone suggested earlier, it's 50K by the time you get those more polished programs and an IT programmer to get everything up and running.  A couple thousand a year is a better investment for smaller businesses.  I'm going to spend the next couple months thinking about our next move - we are running 2021 now but that will sunset early next Spring and then we have to have a plan in place.  What an unnecessary PITA this is.

We understand that QB is sold at a low cost when compared to other business accounting software.  Those other packages deliver a much more valuable system that is customized to the company's needs and processes.  The point to these "Scan Manager" posts is that Intuit had a functional scan feature then unilaterally took it away without warning and NEVER explained themselves.  Not communicating effectively with their user base is the unforgivable sin.

You really do believe the nonsense you posted? Our company spends $8000.00 a year for QB Enterprise. We decided to upgrade to 2023 from 2021. We have 20 companies setup and 25 users. Almost all of them were using the scan function with a dedicated scanner to do their jobs efficiently. Now you take away one of the basic functions that makes their job easier? We moved one of our companies over to an ERP product last year and plan on moving the others as well. I won't even mention the update problems. Quickbooks has become a  pathetic joke. But you go ahead and keep crippling your products, you will wind up like other companies that don't listen to their customers.

If you have decided switching to another program, I would recommend to start from scratch to lower your conversion costs. You can use the trial version of QB Desktop to access your historical data for good if required.

You confuse me, why are you here? If you found "Other" software packages that offer so much more why would you waste the time to even look here? If I found one I would be using it. I own a software company for data collection and deal with dozens of payroll packages. 1500 companies in 15 countries.  Have for 34 years.  I never found one as complete for this cheap. There are limitations and really only designed for companies with not more than 50 employees.  So tell me what is better

Rpeets, I would say if you are spending 8k a year and no direct support with QBs I would leave also. But I would expect to pay maybe 25k a year to get that pickup phone and talk to same person anytime and get them to do what you need in a day or two.  I can't imagine doing it for less.

I am completely at a loss on this.    We process hundreds of transactions per week which require documents attached.  We don't work on mobile devices; we work on DESKTOPS.  We scan multi-page documents and invested in the hardware to scan them quickly.  And you want us to snap pictures of the documents on our phones?  Absolutely absurd!!!!!  This may be the deciding factor that we need to find another software.  Been thinking about it for years.

Reefseeker,

You are absolutely wrong about the time it takes to scan a document into Quickbooks and the work around we were forced to endure.  Stop lying for Intuit.

Reefseeker

LOL Not lying for them. Not in love with them at all. Their support sucks. I did a video on here to show the work flow and actually I can do it even faster now. One button is missing in QB's.  If you just click on your scanner, scan the same and then drag and drop into attachment window it does not take any longer time. Maybe a milli seconded. If you can't figure it out then you do not know what you are doing and need someone to show you.

All the best!
