Where did the reminders go in QBO? I have many recurring transactions and they don't "remind" me anywhere?

I can't believe this isn't a more popular issue.  I can't find much support about it anywhere.  Online support just tells me to turn on things that don't exist (like displaying Tasks on the Dashboard -- it's not an option).

PROBLEM: in QBD there was a REMINDERS pop-up every day that would tell me the invoices overdue, recurring transactions due, and other info, including upcoming items.  There is no such thing in QBO that I can find. I can't be the only one who misses not being able to see, all in one place, the things that need attention?

I understand there are TASKS now... but they really aren't that helpful or inclusive.  My recurring transactions setup as reminders don't do anything... I never get reminded anywhere.  I've read online articles (from Intuit!) about how they will show up in Tasks when their time comes... but they don't.  Ever.

Where can I go to see what recurring transactions are due?  How do I get reminded about them?

And, speaking of recurring transactions... what is the REMINDER LIST?  When I click on it I get a list of some items... but not all items.  And I have to search for it.  What is the REMINDERS LIST and why is it hidden?

Thanks for joining us here in the Community, JohnnykT.

I'm happy to provide some info about reminders in your QuickBooks Online account.

In QuickBooks Online Advanced, you can add tasks so your team always knows what work needs to get done and when. Some features, like invoice approval workflows, automatically create and assign tasks. You can create custom tasks for anything, even related work outside of QuickBooks. Here's how to create a custom task:

1. Go to the Tasks menu.
2. Select Add task.
3. Enter a title and set the due date.
4. In the Assigned dropdown, select the task owner. Note: The user needs to have admin access.
5. In the Notes field, enter a description. These are the instructions for the task.
6. Optionally search and attach QuickBooks Online transactions (Bills, Invoice) to the Records section, and documents to the Document section.
7. Then select Save.

The following article provides additional info about adding and reviewing tasks for your team in QuickBooks Online Advanced.

If you'd like to see other options to setup reminders in your account I recommend submitting feedback for the Product Development Team. Submitting feedback is the best way to make your requests known as many of these submissions are used for product updates and feature releases. This can be done directly through your account by clicking the Gear icon and then select Feedback.

Please don't hesitate to drop a comment below if you have any other questions. I'll be here to lend a hand.

I'm not talking about tasks, so your response is the typical QBO copy/paste of unrelated information.  Not at all helpful.

Where did the reminders go in QBO? I have many recurring transactions and they don't "remind" me anywhere?

I hear your sentiments about the Reminder pop-ups, JohnnykT. As QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) and QuickBooks Online (QBO) are different platforms, some features, like the Reminders pop-up, function differently. Let me provide additional insights regarding this matter.

In QBDT, reminders pop up daily to notify users of overdue invoices, upcoming recurring transactions, and other tasks. While QBO doesn't provide an identical pop-up feature, it offers the Tasks feature to track important items by organizing them into sections such as overdue, today, and upcoming.

Recurring transactions not appearing under Tasks might be caused by a damaged template. Deleting and recreating the recurring transactions, while selecting the "Reminder" type during setup, could resolve this and ensure they appear in the Tasks menu.

You can view your recurring transactions and their due dates by pulling up the Recurring Template List report. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Transactions menu
  2. Click the Recurring transactions tab.
  3. Under the Reminder List drop-down, select Run Report.

Since the pop-up reminders for the recurring transactions that are due are unavailable, we encourage you to send your valuable feedback to our product engineers. The feedback that you submit is reviewed thoroughly by our developers.

Here's how:

  1. Navigate to the Gear Icon.
  2. Click Feedback.
  3. Enter your comments and suggestions.

Lastly, the transactions will show in the reminder list if the system reminds you about it from the reminders tab under the Dashboard.

Additionally, you can refer to this article to fix recurring transactions that failed to run in QBO: Fix failed recurring transactions in QuickBooks Online.

Please know you can rely on the Community team whenever you have further help with questions about the reminder feature and managing recurring transactions in QBO. We'll be happy to provide support. Stay safe!
