Account for fraudulent payroll account

 I received a request to change an employee DD account (whom I thought was our employee ). It was processed, went to a fraudulent account and essentially money is gone. We had to since then issue another check to employee. How do I account for money that is gone. Employee didn't receive the money the first time, but that is how it reflects in Quickbooks.

Account for fraudulent payroll account

You can write it off as Bad Debts for now and try to recover the same from the beneficiary person/entity
