Buy nowHas anyone else had this problem? I needed to update a client's account mappings for PR (Accounting Preferences (Mappings) screen under Payroll Set up). For example, Other Liability and Assets. I changed the account for Child Support, using the edit "pencil" there. It shows the correct account with account number on the detail screen where you designate it. Save, and now back on Accounting Preferences. But the Child Support item, while now looking like the right account, doesn't show the account number. Nor do the account numbers show on any of the Tax Liaibility accounts on that screen, although they are correct in the detail.
We use account numbers with our clients and on this screen and elsewhere, seeing the numbers tells me that things are correct (too many times finding QBO-created accounts at the bottom of my COA with stuff in there that shouldn't be.)
Why is this, and will the new PR run correctly or will QBO create it's own account as I have seen happen before? Thank you!
Account numbers only appear when you designate an account for Other/Liabilities in your Accounting Preferences, DS127.
Once accounts are mapped and assigned to your clients, your payroll will run accurately even without the account number, provided you've chosen the correct ones. Also, kindly note that QuickBooks will only post transactions on the default account if you don't set your payroll mapping.
I recognize that displaying account numbers on the screen and elsewhere simplifies the payroll process. Therefore, I recommend communicating your ideas by sending feedback to our product engineers. They will review your suggestions and might implement them to make future changes.
By sharing insights with our product engineer, we can enhance our product. Revisit this discussion if you need further assistance with organizing your payroll accounts in QBO.
Thanks, I went ahead and sent that in.
Seems like an oversight that the account numbers are not showing on the Accounting Preferences /Mappings screen. Not sure why some of the accounts are showing the numbers and anything recent that I put in does not.
Maybe others out there will join in and make the request?
thanks.
P.S. I ended up calling Intuit to solve my real problem which was about Payroll Items -- how obscure, how you change/fix those....
