Adding Previous employees

Just converted from Destop to Online and some of my inactive employees did not transfer.  They worked for me earlier this year and need to be included in year end reports.  How do I add them in and mark them inactive?

It's nice to have you in the Community again. I'm here to assist you with adding the previous employees that didn't transfer when converting from Desktop to Online. 

 

As you mentioned, it's important to ensure that people who have previously worked for a business are included in year-end reports. When setting up payroll within QuickBooks Online, you have the option to enter prior payroll. The following article serves as a guide for this process: Prior Payroll Overview in Online Payroll. In particular, Part 2 goes over adding an employee and including their payroll history. 

 

If you have already ran payroll with QuickBooks Online, you will need to contact Payroll Support for assistance with modifying payroll history. Here's how you can contact them: 

 

  • Visit the following website: Contact QuickBooks.
  • Select options for the first two prompts.
  • Select Get Phone Number

Payroll support was able to transfer the info for me.  The options to do it myself for some reason were not available.
