You can run payroll for your employee as usual for their final pay. However, previewing and printing W2s for 2023 is not yet available within QuickBooks. The good news is that you can gather the information within QuickBooks by pulling up your payroll data or reports and then preparing the information outside the system.

Once you have created the final paycheck for your employee, you can update the status in your payroll service.

When does QuickBooks expect this to be available? We want to go ahead and file the ones we can before January to get ahead of the chaos.

I'm here to provide some additional info about when you'll be able to preview W-2 forms in your QuickBooks account.
I completely understand wanting to get ahead of the chaos! Good news, according to the W-2 timeline article, previews for your forms will be available December 2nd, 2023. Filing the W-2s can be done by you (or by Intuit - depending on your Payroll service) on or after January 1st of next year.
