Join nowAt my place of employment, the last several semimonthly pay periods have been paid by paper check because "Intuit is not working." For example, I received this notification for our last pay period:
Hello there, @Concerned1.
Thanks for visiting the Community today. We want all the employees to get paid on time using QuickBooks direct deposit. I've checked our records and couldn't find any issues similar to direct deposit not working.
One of many reasons direct deposits are delayed a day is when the payday falls on a bank holiday. Feel free to read this article: How do federal holidays affect my direct deposit?
In some instances, company might be on a 2 or 5-day direct deposit lead time. See this article to learn some more: Pay your employees on time.
Let me know if you have additional concerns about the direct deposit process in QuickBooks Online. I'd be happy to help you again.
Good morning Katherine,
(I think my prior reply was lost - if this is a duplicate I apologize.)
Thank you for the reply. You've pretty much confirmed what I thought was going on - that the employer was not paying on time and using Quickbooks as a scapegoat. This will be 5 out of the last 8 pay periods that they have done this.
Is there a way I can confidentially provide the employer name to 100% confirm that they have not contacted Intuit since the July 31 pay period due to problems with direct deposit/Quickbooks being 'down'? Not only does this greatly affect the employees, it is illegal and it makes Intuit look bad to a whole company of professional people, many of which work at other major institutions in Southern California.
Thank you again.
@Concerned1 You can try to contact QB/ Intuit, but unless you are on the account, or can provide the correct acct info, they likely won't give you any information.
It sucks that this is happening. But FYI, QB/ Intuit IS that bad of a company.
Good luck in your quest.
Thanks for getting back with the Community, Concerned1.

Be sure to review their support hours so you'll know when agents are available.
If there's any additional questions, I'm just a post away. Have an awesome day!
As per all your advice (QB responses). I have tried all your instructions, but still does not work.
I was asked to verity the deposit so that Direct deposit will work. I made payroll on the 11/09 but was never sent a deposit for verification. I contacted CS via chat on 11/13 and was told the verification deposit would be made by the 11/17. Here it is 11/22 and still no deposit. QB online keeps asking me to "Verifty deposit" but NO deposit has been made to my bank. Now what? I have reverted back to paper check. This seems to be the only solution.

The test transaction amount of less than $1.00 will be posted to your bank account within 2-3 banking days after setting up your bank account in QuickBooks Desktop Payroll. I recommend checking your bank account statement or contacting your bank to verify the test transaction amount.
If there are no test deposits, contact our Payroll Support Specialists again. They can assist you further and ensure you'll get the small amounts needed for the activation.

I did talk to a payroll specialist and they said the transaction would take until 11/17. Still no deposit made.
They said they would have to contact support. Still no help. QB Online has several issues. I also get the "OOps try back later" message. Sounds like this program has several problems.
