Anyone have issues paying direct deposit because "Intuit is not working?"

At my place of employment, the last several semimonthly pay periods have been paid by paper check because "Intuit is not working."  For example, I received this notification for our last pay period:

"Intuit's Direct Deposit system is not currently working so your paycheck is being issued in paper form and will be available for pickup at the front desk this afternoon."

Since this is supposedly a recurring issue, I'm wondering if Intuit really is not working for each pay period, or if they are just trying to stall paying us so they float the money longer (by mailing a check a day or two after payday they delay people being paid for 4-6 days).

**  Other "reasons" given for late payroll:
--  "Intuit Payroll Service is down once again"
--  "Due to communication issues between Intuit Payroll Service and our bank, Intuit was not able to direct deposit your paycheck"
--  "Due to Intuit Payroll service system errors on Friday, payroll was not processed until Friday evening and Saturday morning"
--  "we experienced unexpected system delays"

Has anyone else had an issue with Intuit's Direct Deposit system "not working?"  i.e., is what my company telling me possibly legitimate or does it seem implausible?  And, is there someone at Intuit I can check with at Intuit to see if my company has truly had issues?  I do not know what Intuit product my company uses but I know it is QuickBooks, they have Direct Deposit (sometimes), and the company only has 20-30 employees.

Thank you in advance for any comments and assistance!

Anyone have issues paying direct deposit because "Intuit is not working?"

Hello there, @Concerned1

Thanks for visiting the Community today. We want all the employees to get paid on time using QuickBooks direct deposit. I've checked our records and couldn't find any issues similar to direct deposit not working.

One of many reasons direct deposits are delayed a day is when the payday falls on a bank holiday. Feel free to read this article: How do federal holidays affect my direct deposit?

In some instances, company might be on a 2 or 5-day direct deposit lead time. See this article to learn some more: Pay your employees on time.

Let me know if you have additional concerns about the direct deposit process in QuickBooks Online. I'd be happy to help you again.

Anyone have issues paying direct deposit because "Intuit is not working?"

Good morning Katherine,

(I think my prior reply was lost - if this is a duplicate I apologize.)

Thank you for the reply.  You've pretty much confirmed what I thought was going on - that the employer was not paying on time and using Quickbooks as a scapegoat.  This will be 5 out of the last 8 pay periods that they have done this.

Is there a way I can confidentially provide the employer name to 100% confirm that they have not contacted Intuit since the July 31 pay period due to problems with direct deposit/Quickbooks being 'down'?  Not only does this greatly affect the employees, it is illegal and it makes Intuit look bad to a whole company of professional people, many of which work at other major institutions in Southern California.

Thank you again.

@Concerned1   You can try to contact QB/ Intuit, but unless you are on the account, or can provide the correct acct info, they likely won't give you any information.

It sucks that this is happening.  But FYI, QB/ Intuit IS that bad of a company.

Good luck in your quest.

Anyone have issues paying direct deposit because "Intuit is not working?"

As per all your advice (QB responses).  I have tried all your instructions, but still does not work.

I was asked to verity the deposit so that Direct deposit will work.  I made payroll on the 11/09 but was never sent a deposit for verification.  I contacted CS via chat on 11/13 and was told the verification deposit would be made by the 11/17.  Here it is 11/22 and still no deposit.  QB online keeps asking me to "Verifty deposit" but NO deposit has been made to my bank.  Now what?   I have reverted back to paper check.  This seems to be the only solution.

Hello RBinkley1,

Thank you for keeping us updated here in the Community. I'm here to help you activate direct deposit to process seamless payroll for your employees in QuickBooks.

The test transaction amount of less than $1.00 will be posted to your bank account within 2-3 banking days after setting up your bank account in QuickBooks Desktop Payroll. I recommend checking your bank account statement or contacting your bank to verify the test transaction amount.

If there are no test deposits, contact our Payroll Support Specialists again. They can assist you further and ensure you'll get the small amounts needed for the activation.

Our Customer Support Team for Basic and Enhanced is available from 6 AM - 6 PM PT (Monday - Friday). For Assisted Payroll, any time, any day. See the steps to get a hold of a specialist:

  1. Open QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. Click the Help tab at the top menu bar.
  3. Select QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  4. Enter your concern, then hit Continue.
  5. Choose Get a callback.

Additionally, did you know there's a way to identify the type of payroll subscription you're using to process payroll in QuickBooks Desktop? I have a link here you can use as a reference for your payroll service: Find your QuickBooks Payroll service.

Let us know if you need more assistance activating direct deposit by leaving a reply. We're always ready to lend a hand. Take care, and have a great rest of the day.

I did talk to a payroll specialist and they said the transaction would take until 11/17.  Still no deposit made.

They said they would have to contact support.  Still no help.  QB Online has several issues.  I also get the "OOps try back later"  message.  Sounds like this program has several problems.
