Automatic payroll addition at 1st of month

Hello,

We have employees that are allowed a $50 payroll addition for cellphones. These amount are payable on the first payroll of each month. Currently, we have to simply "remember" to post these additions.

Is it possible to automate these items for a said date ?

Automatic payroll addition at 1st of month

Hello Jwright-Nash,

Thank you for posting your question today. I'm happy to answer your question.

We're unable to automate a payroll item that will only be added on the first payout of each month. There isn't a setting for that condition, so just continue what you're doing.

On the other hand, if you want to see references for payroll, just visit the main support page and select the QuickBooks Desktop Payroll product.

You can always go back to this thread if you have other payroll concerns. Have a good day!

Yes, it is very possible to automate the addition so that it appears only once a month.

To do this, edit the addition item click next to the Default Rate & Limit slide. Then enter $50 as the rate and limit, and set the Limit Type to Monthly - Restart Each Month. It should look like like this:

Then add the item to the employees on the Payroll Info tab:Capture2.JPG

Once set up, then the first paycheck of each month will add the $50.00, which will hit the monthly limit. All other paychecks for the month will calculate 0.00 since the monthly limit has been hit.

Or, another way to say this is, "There is a way and it was added to QB Desktop Payroll more than a decade ago for just this sort of thing: Additions and Deductions that have a monthly limit."
