As is, QB is calculating after every field entry, so you enter regular hours, it calculates, then you enter overtime hours, it calculates again, enter PTO hours, etc. It takes a lot of time to do it over and over for each entry for each employee. Is there a way to change QB so that you can enter all the fields you need and then hit an F key to calculate all at one time?
Yes, that's how it works / how QB works in general, and also paychecks.
However, it's normally nearly instantaneous on a modern computer. There may be something about the way QB is set up and is being used that makes it slow. Is your file local or remote? Are you in single or multi user mode? Things like that can matter.

Go to the Help menu.
Pick the QuickBooks Desktop Help.
