Can I change date on payroll check if it's right after I made it?

Hello there, @info1846.

The option to modify paychecks is unavailable in QuickBooks Online (QBO). Thus, to rectify the incorrect dates on your payroll paychecks, you'll want to delete and recreate this within your company file. However, there are several factors that we have to consider before doing so. Let me elaborate on the following to start resolving this matter.

We can only delete or void paychecks if this has not been processed. Also, if there is a discrepancy in paychecks processed with Direct Deposit, this should be deleted or voided immediately. Otherwise, the option will no longer be available.

On the other hand, if it's just a regular paycheck to record this in your QBO, you can delete that by following the steps below:

  1. Go to the Payroll tab.
  2. Select Employees
  3. Click the Paycheck List under Run Payroll
  4. Pick the paycheck you want to delete.
  5. Tap Delete

Check out this article for more details: Delete or void employee paychecks.

Additionally, I've included these articles that'll help you manage payroll schedules and payroll reports:

Can I change date on payroll check if it's right after I made it?

Has this process improved since 2022?  Can't I just change the date of the check like I could in the desktop version?  I missed the banking deadline so my check date needs to be postponed a day.

We hear you, @BGCU.

I'm here to share details about editing your paychecks in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Please know that yes, you can now edit paychecks in QBO. However, the ability to edit direct deposit paychecks is subject to factors such as processing time and payroll service. Additionally, paychecks cannot be edited if the payroll has not yet been sent.

To edit a paycheck, here's how:

  1. Navigate to Payroll, then Employees.
  2. Select Paycheck list and click on the paycheck(s) you'd like to make changes to.
  3. In the Make adjustment field dropdown, select Edit.
  4. Select Yes.

If you're unable to make changes, there will be a pop-up message explaining why. Thus I suggest you to our QuickBooks Payroll Support team for assistance. Our support representatives have the necessary expertise and tools to execute the adjustment on your behalf, ensuring that it is completed accurately and efficiently.

  1. Log in to your QuickBooks Online company, then go to Help (?).
  2. Click on Search, then Contact Us.
  3. Select a topic, and choose Have us call you to save your spot in line. We will call you back to connect with us.

Moreover, in QBO, you have the ability to customize both payroll and employee reports, allowing you to personalize them to obtain the most relevant data.
