Running a payroll without using a pay schedule is currently unavailable in QuickBooks Online (QBO). However, you can either edit your pay schedule and its amount or you can add another pay schedule.
Here's how:
Step 1: Edit the rate per hour of your employee
- Go to the Payroll menu located at the left navigation panel and click Employees. Then select an employee
- Scroll down look for Pay types and click Edit.
- Click the dropdown in the Pay type field and choose the pay type for your employee.
- You can also edit the Rate per hour.
- You can also add a Pay type within the Set working hours/days section. Click +Add pay type.
- Once you're done making changes to your account, click Save.
Step 2: Run a payroll
- Go to the Payroll menu and click Employees.
- Select the Run payroll option.
- Choose what Pay schedule you would like to run in this payroll. Then press Continue.
- Once you're done making changes in your payroll, you can click Save for Later or Preview Payroll.
