Running a payroll without using a pay schedule is currently unavailable in QuickBooks Online (QBO). However, you can either edit your pay schedule and its amount or you can add another pay schedule. 

Here's how: 

Step 1: Edit the rate per hour of your employee

1. Go to the Payroll menu located at the left navigation panel and click Employees. Then select an employee
2. Scroll down look for Pay types and click Edit. 
3. Click the dropdown in the Pay type field and choose the pay type for your employee.
4. You can also edit the Rate per hour. 
5. You can also add a Pay type within the Set working hours/days section. Click +Add pay type. 
6. Once you're done making changes to your account, click Save. 

Step 2: Run a payroll 

1. Go to the Payroll menu and click Employees. 
2. Select the Run payroll option.
3. Choose what Pay schedule you would like to run in this payroll. Then press Continue. 
4.  Once you're done making changes in your payroll, you can click Save for Later or Preview Payroll.
