Can I submit payroll a day late?

Running payroll today will only produce results tomorrow IF you subscribe to a version with next day processing. If your deadline was last night (2 day) then running payroll today will result in direct deposits Friday morning. If you wait another day they won't get paid until Tuesday due to MLK day on Monday (banks closed and when banks are closed Intuit cannot distribute direct deposits)

You can submit payroll a day late if it was missed. To do so, you'll have to create an unscheduled paycheck. If you're using QuickBooks Online Payroll, you can make one of these checks for the current pay period.
 

Here's how:

1. Access your Payroll menu, then go to Employees.
2. Click Run payroll.
3. Pick an employee and press Create another check.
4. Enter the employee's compensation, including any salary adjustments, vacation or sick hours, and other pay types.
5. Confirm your pay period and check date. The only dates available are ones that fall after your last one and before the next payday.
6. Hit Preview Payroll, then Submit payroll.
7. For paper checks, hand write or print it and give a copy to your worker by its date.
8. Select Finish payroll.
