Bank rules in QuickBooks Self-Employed can help you automate the categorization of transactions, so you don't have to review them manually.
You can even set up a rule that automatically assigns a category, even if it's not an exact match. To do this, uncheck the box for "Match exactly" when setting up the rule. This will allow QuickBooks to partially match or categorize a transaction that contains the word in the Description box.
For example, add "coffee" in the Description box and leave the "Match exactly" box blank.
Once the transactions are downloaded, QuickBooks Self-Employed will suggest or partially match transactions that have similar descriptions such as "dark coffee", "iced coffee", and "hot coffee" on them. You can read more details about this here: Create Rules to Speed Up Reviews in QuickBooks Self-Employed.
