Cannot enable macros. Intuit digital signature revoked.

I am trying to obtain a tax form worksheet in Excel. Excel opens with macros not enabled. When I try to enable macros, a pop-up window opens saying that the digital signature has been revoked for Intuit Inc and shows a certificate expiration of 7/18/12. No data comes through on the Excel sheet that opens. I was able to obtain this report with my QuickBooks Pro Desktop 2015 but cannot do so with Desktop Pro 2021 even though the same warning shows on the 2015 version. At least the data came through and I could get the report. Really don't know what is going on.

Cannot enable macros. Intuit digital signature revoked.

Hello there, @framey.

Thanks for sharing the detailed information about your concern. I'm here to help you get past the issue and ensure that you can use your digital signature again.

Let's start with checking the third-party digital signature. Here's how:

  1. Right-click the application icon, then click Open File Location.
  2. Right-click the application extension, for example, ApplicationName.exe, then select Properties.
  3. Go to the Digital Signatures tab, then highlight the Name of Signer and select Details in the Signature List.
  4. Select View Certificate from the General tab, then check the Valid from dates. If the digital signature date expired, ask your IT to get the latest certification for the third-party application.
  5. Click OK to close the window

For additional guidance, check out this link: How to fix the error “QuickBooks - Application with Revoked Certificate.”

Reach out to me again if you have other questions. I'm always here to help.

@katherinejoyceO

OP: tax form worksheet in Excel.

RE: Right-click the application icon, then click Open File Location.

There is no application icon for this QuickBooks feature. It's an Excel file.

RE: Right-click the application extension, for example, ApplicationName.exe, then select Properties.

The Tax Form Worksheets in Excel is not an .exe.  It's an Excel Template that Intuit publishes.

RE: Select View Certificate from the General tab, then check the Valid from dates. If the digital signature date expired, ask your IT to get the latest certification for the third-party application.

The "third-party application" is an *.xlt file published by Intuit. There is no View Certificate tab when clicking Properties. Both of which you would know had you actually tried to solve the problem the OP is seeing. An Intuit customer cannot "get the latest" digital certificate for a piece of signed code, exe or xlt or otherwise. Intuit should have published the template using a code-signing timestamp server to avoid this messaging after the certificate expired, but you didn't and this is what happens when you don't.
