Change from QB Desktop Payroll Annual Enhanced to QB Online Payroll Premium

We had QB Desktop, but upgraded to QBO Advanced and QBO Payroll Premium, which we pay for monthly.

Do we still need to pay the annual $600+ fee for the QB Payroll Annual Enhanced, that we used to process payroll on the QB Desktop version?  A QB rep said we did, but I don't understand why we would need to pay a yearly Payroll Annual Enhanced fee when we are already paying the monthly ABO payroll premium?

Change from QB Desktop Payroll Annual Enhanced to QB Online Payroll Premium

It's a pleasure to have you here today, @Shoemakersville. I'll discuss some details as to why you're still being charged from your previous payroll subscription, even if you've already switched to a new one.

A possible reason is you haven't canceled your previous annual payroll subscription. In QuickBooks, when you subscribe to a payroll subscription and then, later on, decide to switch to a new one. Know that you'll need to cancel your current subscription first. If not, it'll continue to charge you the original price when you first subscribe to it.

If this is the case, I can input the steps below so you can proceed to cancel your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) Payroll Annual Enhanced subscription to avoid being charged for it. To begin, here's how:

  1. Access your QuickBooks Desktop company.
  2. From the Employees dropdown menu, select My Payroll Service then Account/Billing Info.
  3. Sign in using your Intuit Account login and the Account Portal page will open.
  4. Select Cancel Service.
  5. Follow the on-screen steps to cancel your payroll service.

Here's an article for more information: Cancel Your QuickBooks Payroll Subscription.

To add up, I'll be giving you this article for reference to help you manage all your subscription in QBO: Manage billing, payment, and subscription info in QuickBooks Online.

If you have got time to spare, you can also check this page to learn how you can handle your customer's payments: Take and process payments in QuickBooks Online with QuickBooks Payments.
