Absolutely the most infuriating company I have ever dealt with. They do NOT care about their millions of small users. Many of my customers have explained that to moving QuickBooks Online has been one of the worst decisions they have ever made. I use QuickBooks Pro 2019 Desktop and will never spend another dime with Intuit until they support a desktop version again. Intuit has disabled the email capabilities of the software that I used to send invoices to my customers. I now print invoices to the Microsoft PDF printer that's built into Windows. Then I attach it to an email to my customer. I no longer get online payments from Intuit. I guess they were not making enough on the transaction fees. I am beyond angry with their horrible support. I have been an Intuit customer since 2003. They have intentionally told customers like me that they no longer want our business. They have gotten what they asked for. Intuit can KMA.
If you are working solo on a desktop (PC or Mac) to manage your book and only need basic features, you should explore this one. You can use the program for as long as you like, use all the features and enter as much data as required. There are no time limits, no usage limits, no ads (at this time). This program is quite popular in Asia and Europe.

YES! They used to be great but off-shored everying 2 or 3 years ago.
I just spent 1 hour with Chat to fix one transaction I couldn't remember how to fix.
And this is not the first time this has happended.
Just how I wanted to spend my afternoon right before Xmas break.
After 1 hour - it was worse than when I started and then I figured it out on my own.
First question I was asked was how did I cant it to be? I said if I knew that I wouldn't be contacting you.
I'm seriously going to look at other alternatives this year.
They also keep upping the price and the customer support has gone to crap.
It really has gone down hill.
Switching to Quickbooks has been the most detrimental decision for my business. Any time I try to do anything with quickbooks, something goes wrong, and it takes weeks to months to resolve. Quickbooks has defaulted on my tax payments, disorganized my books and most recently LOST MY MONEY! My invoice function wasn’t working, 2 weeks later and over 10 hours on the phone with countless people, I was finally able to send the invoice. But then we ran in to another problem receiving the payment. And then we ran in to another problem processing the payment and now I have spent the past 2 weeks trying to transfer the money to my bank account, 2+ hours on the phone with quickbooks every day and at the end of each call “this problem is resolved you will receive the money by the end of the day”. A week later and I call again and now they can’t even find the money. I was hoping to report this payment as a Q4 payment, since my client signed in October but here we are over 2 months later and Quickbooks still has my money. My suggestion… SWITCH SOFTWARE ASAP!!
my bank account halfway syncs. They are blaming it on my bank changing names/ being bought out. However, the dates it did not sync does not at all match the bank merging dates. Just a convenient excuse.
Yes, horrible. I have been on hold for 40 minutes waiting for "tier 2" like in my spare time, I should learn about the infrastructure of quickbooks and understand their jargon.
I appreciate you for joining in on this thread, @bookkeeper221. Let me chime in and provide additional information as to why your bank account only syncs halfway in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
Before that, may I know the name of the bank you're trying to connect to? This way, I can check for ongoing investigations to provide you with an appropriate resolution. I'd also appreciate any additional information you can provide.
Please note that we're unable to download bank transactions past 90 days. The bank account you're trying to connect may contain older transactions that's why we assume that it isn't synced successfully.
To enter them into QBO, we can do a manual upload. Here's how:
However, if the syncing issues are caused by error messages, I've got you an article for multiple suggested solutions: What to do if you get a bank error or can't download transactions in QuickBooks Online.
Furthermore, I'd recommend reconciling your accounts every month. This way, we can ensure that your books are balanced and accurate. For your future guide, I'll be providing you with these articles:
Feel free to reply to this thread if you have further concerns about connecting your bank accounts in QBO. This way, we can assist you and ensure that your concerns are addressed properly. Stay safe, and have a great day!
Yes, I completely agree it's terrible. there are so many things I don't like about it and not enough time to type it all out. nothing will be done about it any ways. the price being one issue. I will definitely be looking for something else that fits my needs. if anyone likes it, they are either fine with an overpriced cookie cutter software or they have never had great software to run a business.
1) Can't close popup messages. I have to control alt delete out of the entire system. 2) Was trying to look at setting up a link with bank and one of these popups happened and none of the options worked. The look of it seems like the popup is from the DOS era, so maybe that's why it doesn't even function. 3) This popup problem has been happening for months and months. For how big your company is, it's incredible you haven't found a team to solve this. 4) Can't find anywhere instructions on how to import bank transactions. It's hunt and peck.

I hear your sentiments, @Bkeen. I'm here to help you sort things out so you are able to get back to your business.
If you're using the QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), we can perform some troubleshooting processes to fix this unusual behavior. It can also be caused by outdated account data, so we'll need to make sure that the system is updated to its latest release. Doing this will give you a better experience and fix unusual messages and issues.
Once done updating your company file and you still get the same concern, I'd recommend running the Verify and Rebuild tools.
Here's how to verify data:
If there are problems with your company file, you'll have to rebuild it.
For more insights about the verify and rebuild process, you can check out this article: Verify and Rebuild data.
I've also added this article for your guide on how to import or export info with QBDT: Import and export data in QuickBooks Desktop.
Please let me know in the comment section if you need further assistance. Take care!
I agree. I like many others am just venting here because I know the guys in the marketing department of Inuit have been high fiving each other for record sales and their stock going up and up for every year until 2022, but then again, the stock has been stumbling down since then so perhaps they should know why customers are disgruntled. I know that some cynical fans of Quickbooks and Intuit (perhaps the employees) might have the passive aggressive reaction of "Well, if you're so unhappy, why don't you just go with someone else?" but the thing (besides being rude) is that after using QB for 20+ years and helping create this monster that has completely demolished the competition for so long, moving is not so easy.
I remember early on in our business, the choice was between Peachtree and Quickbooks. Peachtree seemed intimidating and expensive and when I asked around, everybody said "Go with Quickbooks!" and when I saw that it was only $180 and it INCLUDED payroll for a year, I got it and loved it. I became the person telling everybody to get it. Then I got it the upgrade the next year for $89! Also loved it! By the 2005 version though, I saw that it was getting a little too bloated. It wasn't really adding features but it slowed down a lot and so I decided to hold off a couple of years but once Windows 7 came along, it didn't work so I had to upgrade and at the time we had a few more employees so I thought it'd be nice to get payroll again.
As I found out, in 2010, Payroll wasn't included anymore but it was only a couple of hundred bucks and we had made a mistake once when employee SS and Medicare rates got lowered(thanks Obama) so we decided to get it. Then in 3 years we found out we had to upgrade our software again to use payroll...Ok fine, that's another $189 plus the now $400ish for payroll. I asked our accountant then if there were any alternatives and was told that basically, no. Her whole process was through quickbooks. She'd get an accountant copy, make her changes, send it back- bing bang boom. Like the mafia, we were stuck.
Even if we found someone else, we'd have to redo all our journal entries and if we were audited, have two different software to contend with. Intuit knows this too apparently so they pushed the envelope even more and had a 250% increase in payroll. All of a sudden it was more than $600. Again, we were stuck so we paid it. During the pandemic we weren't even sure we'd stay open and we still paid it and they showed zero mercy.
This week, I'm finding out that I can't use payroll because again, my QB 2020 desktop is "out of date". Well fine, what's another $189? Except that I couldn't find it on amazon anymore. Odd. I googled around and everything was about Quickbooks online so I thought that was the only option, but after looking up the prices for the cheapest possible tier for accounting and payroll, we'd end up paying around $1200 (after tax) for just one year..only for our accounting software and on top of everything, it'd all be online open to data breaches and worse, our data would forever be held hostage. If we went out of business and were audited 3 years later, I couldn't just fire up my laptop and go get the data. I'd have to sign up again and pay another $400 or however the base rate is and hopefully still be able to have my data somehow.
After digging around some more, I found that we could also stick with the desktop version and pay $549 a year which will likely go up next year. so with payroll, it'd come to be around $1400 a year just for our software for a small business. That is just pure greed. Come on, now, a lot of people on here are accountants or have at last can figure out how much inflation is...No amount of inflation can answer for going from $189 in 2004 to $1400 in 2020.
So in conclusion, Intuit overplayed its card here. They squeezed us too much and now the prices they charge are so much that it's less trouble to find alternatives. Myself, for the first time in 13 years will not be renewing payroll. Yes, it's more work for me to fill out the quarterly forms. Yes, I may make a mistake here or there. but not forking over $1400 to Intuit is worth it. I'd rather used that money to keep the lights on.
I am having a terrible time with QB. They screwed up all my W2s this year. (not to mention several tax filings in 2022) Employees are upset. It is killing me and my morale to keep on living.
Quickbooks is the WORST company I have ever dealt with. No one is responsible, no one knows what they are doing. They say they’re experts. They screw it all up and then it takes hours to unscrew it to the point where they screwed up so bad they tell you, sorry we can’t fix this. I want my money back and I am going to send them a bill for the reconstruction in competing software
Any specific issue?
Check out PayorCRM if you are looking for Bill pay functionality that works with QB 2019
Oh yes, absolutely! It's by far the most stressfull program I've ever used. Their support is terrible if you're using an older version and it seems like its done in purpose, so you'll spend the money to upgrade.
I use it for minimal things, like sending quotes and invoices to the vocational schools and the rest I do manually. I was forced to upgrade from the 2014 version, which worked fine for what we needed. Then it would no longer allow us to use gmail. I switched to outlook for just these 2 schools, then that also became a nightmare. Then I upgraded to desktop 2020 with the promise this would resolve my issue, then in 2021, the nightmare began again and they do not offer any support. Instead they push my to upgrade again, which is not affordable for what we make with these 2 schools. We give them deep discounts and this is not cost effective at all.
QB will not help with this issue. I cannot click on send email or send forms without the entire program freezing and having to shut it down in task bar. They blame it on microsoft and an upgdate of which does not show up in my update list. I have no logo on my forms and cannot access forms at all do to freezing.
Ive spent countless hours trying to resolve this. Ive tried everything! No support without another expensive or monthly fee upgrade.
In my opinion, this is racketeering at its finest. $$$ is all that matters to QB.
Yes. Ive been on it two days and its garbage. It cant even send ot an invoice. Every single one comes back undeliverable. Anybody recommend a company that has their sh*t together?
I think Quickbooks has become terrible. I have so many problems with it now.
They tripled their price and are horrible to deal with.
I am so frustrated.
Is Xero a good alternative. I am a cpa and use QB for bookkeeping for multiple clients. Most of my clients are small and I can only charge so much. For a company that built themselves on the backs of small accounting firms such as mine, Intuit really decided to screw us.
For businesses with revenue <50K USD per annum, I can recommend another accounting app with a free plan.
If you are working solo on a desktop (PC or Mac) to manage your book and only need basic features, you can also explore a free program to install on your machine. You can use the program for as long as you like, use all the features and enter as much data as required. There are no time limits, no usage limits, no ads (at this time). You forgot about how qb tries to monetize every aspect of the functionality......such as using bills to do an accrual....I recently downgraded my subscription as i was paying between 2 and 3k per year....adding to the coffers and getting screwed over w/ the crappy qb functionality changes (god forbid that they have a BA this actually uses the software or is an accountant). So......had created a bill or "accrual" for a vendor....tried to post my payment to that bill and the subscription does not include that functionality.......??? If a user is clever enough to figure out how to make the software valuable....qb figures how to screw up the system you developed very quickly. I think the quick in quickbooks stands for screw the subscriber quickly.
Signed - tired of getting screwed by intuit
The interface is terrible. Every other page hides important buttons that are at the bottom of the window - hidden until you scroll down or in some other hidden space. QuickBooks has one of the least productive user interfaces. There is no clear flow of how everything connects. It would be nice to have the typical function buttons in the same place at the top of EVERY window no matter what page a user is on. The bookmarks function is helpful as for some unknown reason some of the standard menu items just disappeared from the left menu. I've given feedback to Intuit on how non-intuitive this product is. Intuit is an ironic if not very poor brand name for something that is not intuitive. This product is only on the market as it is a near monopoly with a lion share of the market. I'm sure many users would be happy to see improvements to the user interface or to see a competitor come along and offer something much more streamlined.
