I am trying to submit Form 941 electronically in desktop 2023. My payroll subscription is up to date, I checked this several times, restarted QuickBooks and my computer. I am still receiving the pop-up:
"Problem: To file your return , you need the latest payroll updates.
Solution: Download the current payroll update by selecting the Employees Menu in QuickBooks and then selecting Get Payroll Updates." My QuickBooks Desktop shows: Using Tax Table version: 22316
You are using payroll version: 09260340
You must update before: 11/15/2023
My subscription is active.
I did recently download and install QB Desktop 2024, but have not started using it.
Hello, JCLTD.
I appreciate you downloading the latest payroll update, and thank you so much for taking the time to troubleshoot and try to fix the issue. Your efforts are genuinely appreciated. Let me provide some other steps to take and help E-file 941 form.
At the outset, it's crucial to ensure you're logged in as an administrator when downloading the latest tax table on QuickBooks Desktop. This will ensure you have the necessary permissions to complete the task. Once you've done that, the next step is to revalidate the service key to make sure it's correct. This will help to eliminate any discrepancies that may have been causing issues with QuickBooks Desktop and the tax table.
If everything checks out and the service key is validated successfully, we can then proceed to reset the update. This will ensure that you have the latest tax table version and that it's working correctly. By following these steps, you should be able to resolve any issues you may be experiencing with QuickBooks Desktop and the tax table.
Here's how:
Then let's reset the update:
Once the update finishes, please close and reopen your QuickBooks Desktop. To install the updates, kindly select Yes. Once the installation finishes, I recommend restarting your computer to ensure all the updates take effect.
In case the issue persists, we can download the QuickBooks Tool Hub. It is designed to help users resolve common issues and errors that may occur while using QuickBooks Desktop. The Tool Hub consolidates various diagnostic tools and utilities into a single application, making it easier to identify and fix problems. For more detailed steps, please refer to this article: Repair your QuickBooks Desktop for Windows.
I recommend checking out this link: E-file and e-pay federal forms and taxes in QuickBooks Desktop. It's an excellent resource for getting everything done quickly and efficiently to e-file your federal tax forms and e-pay your federal taxes electronically,

I'm having the same issue!
I am having the same issue. I have performed the recommended steps and the issue still persists. I can't eFile any of my clients 941's. I believe the problem is on Quickbooks side and not the communities side.
Thank you so much, but it did not work:(. Any other suggestions?
Thank you for posting. I agree, I have tried everything several times. So frustrating for those of us who try to get these filed ASAP. Please post if you get it resolved.
Same issue here, tried everything and restart the computer but still the same problem.
Somehow I can e-file W3 without problem. What's the difference between this two e-file processes?
W-2/W-3 do not require an e-filing PIN. I did re-enter the e-file PIN and it still did not work.
I am having the same issue. All recommended steps taken. Has anyone figured this out yet???

Folks, with all of us "me toos" the issue is with your software, not our program.
The issue is clearly with the software, not with our updating.
Count me in as a me too having the issue.
Perhaps you can escalate this issue to your team and get them to fix the problem instead of 1000's of individual's calling in for help. I'm confidant when tomorrow morning comes along, there will be 1000's of others with the same issue. That would be much appreciated and helpful.
Perhaps you can get this escalated to your team, since I am confidant by tomorrow morning there will be 1,000's with this same issue. Seems like it would be more effective to have your team fix the problem than 1,000's of individuals reaching out. I'm also confidant the IRS does not want all these 941's paper filed for the 3rd quarter 2023 because of Intuit's software problem. Much appreciated.

Us too...please help! Unable to e-file 941 with QBDT 2023. Error message instructing us to download payroll updates. Running as administrator, resettng the QB/payroll updates and verify/rebuild data did NOT help.
This problem is definately on QB end. Please provide an update to fix this asap...30 days left to e-file 941 Q3.
Same. been pulling my hair put trying to figure this out. very frustrated
SAME issue for me. Intuit QuickBooks please fix this immediately!
I’m having the same issue. Tried all the above solutions, to no avail. Was able to file the CA forms without an issue, only getting the error with the Fed forms. Seems like it should be a quick fix, much quicker than fielding thousands of calls and chats with the same issues. Just hopeful that QB can get it done sooner than later.
This is happening to me as well. Is maddening. QB, get your act together.
Exactly the same problem. 2 hours of wasted time. Intuit: get real and get a telephone!
(10/2/2023 8:10 am eastern standard time) I am also having the same issue. I have 2021 Desktop Pro with the enhanced payroll feature. I installed the current payroll tax update (22316). I have closed the program and restarted the computer many times. I still get the same issue when trying to e-file the 941 quarterly.
Problem: to file your return, you need the latest payroll updates
Solution: download the current payroll update by selecting the employees menu in QuickBooks and then selecting get payroll updates.
Well, your solution does not work when the user is up to date!
QuickBooks ProAdvisor, having same issue, it is a program issue, not a user issue. I'm even on QuickBooks Accountant Desktop Plus 2024, tax table version 22316, will not efile.
Your fix does not work. First you double the price for your QBP payroll - then you can't seem to get the desktop to efile!!!! You are beginning to frustrate me to no end.
This needs to be escalated! Same problem here.
