Employee last name change

I see a response for to this ?? for QBO only.  I'm using QBDT enhanced payroll for accountants.  The program does not allow me to change the employee's last name!  Please advise the proper steps.

Note: The system wants me to create a new employee??  I do not want to do that because it could screw up W2's, and distort historical information.

I'm here to help you change your employee's name smoothly. Let's open the worker's profile and go to the Personal menu to update the information. I'll show you how to get there.

 

Here's how:

 

  1. Navigate to the Employees tab at the top bar of your company file and select the Employee Center.
  2. Double-click the worker's name you want to change from the list.
  3. Go to the Personal menu on the left panel and enter the worker's correct last name.
  4. Press OK to confirm the changes.

Below is the pop-up error message:

 

To maintain proper synchronization with your bank, updates to Payee information, previously used for online payments, are limited to address and phone number ONLY.

 

If you need to update the Payee Name or Account Number, please create a new payee.

Hello there, @dso0216. Thanks for getting back and keeping us updated when trying to change an employee's last name.

 

The steps provided by my colleague @Rasa-LilaM should point you in the right direction in editing your employee's info. However, since you encounter an error message, I recommend contacting our Customer Care Team. They're able to pull up your account in a secure environment to deep investigate the root of the problem why the error appears and conduct screen-sharing sessions to see what you're seeing. 

 

To reach them, here's how:

 

  1. Open QuickBooks. 
  2. Go to the Help menu at the top.
  3. Select QuickBooks Desktop Help
  4. Type Contact Us in the search box. Then, click on Contact Us at the bottom. 
  5. Select the way you wish to connect with support.
