Hello,

QuickBooks will look at the wage base for calculating the SS and MED for both employer and employee.

If the employee withholding is doubling, run the "Payroll tax and wage summary" report and set it for the whole year then, look at the taxable wages amount and do the math manually to make sure that you have withheld the proper amount up to date.

Example:
Taxable Wages: 10,000
SS Employee Tax Amount should be 620 (10,000 x 6.2%)
MED Employee Tax Amount should be 145 (10,000 x 1.45%)

If QBO shows that for some reason not enough was withheld previously, then it will make up the difference on the next check.

This is 1 possible reason this could be happening.
