Employee Time Activities - Summary Report

In the past (using QB Desktop), I was able to pull a report that would show me the total hours each of my employees had billed to a particular client.  It was sorted by employee, and under each name it would list the dozen or two dozen clients and how many hours that employee had billed against each one (within the time frame I selected).  It was extremely useful for invoicing each month.

Since coming to QB Online this past summer (2023), the only thing available in this same genre is the "Employee Time Activities - Details" report.  This does the same thing, but it shows every entry for every employee and every client.  I have to then export to excel and manually summarize the lines to come to a total each month so I can run invoices.  It works, but it now takes 10 times longer than it used to.  I have tried unsuccessfully to customize this report to summarize the data needed.....

Is there a way for me to get to this summary format in the reports?

Any direction or help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Employee Time Activities - Summary Report

Welcome to the QuickBooks Community, @mwright37.

Currently, we're unable to customize the Time Activities by Employee Detail report in QuickBooks Online (QBO) to summarize the total amount for each month. I appreciate you initiating the workaround of exporting it to Excel to obtain the information you need. Don't worry. We listen to customer feedback and use it to improve your QBO experience. That said, I'll help you relay your suggestion to our software engineers so they can review your recommendation and possibly include it in our future product enhancements. To do that:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Select Feedback.
  3. Enter your feature request, then click Next.

Additionally, QBO allows you to email reports at a regular and recurring scheduled time, so you won't have to send them manually to your customers.

Keep in touch if you have further concerns about reports. I'll be happy to return to this post to address your queries. Stay safe, and have a great day ahead.
