Filing w2/NJ-W-3

Am I seeing this correctly?--Looks like we here in NJ once again have no QB e-File option for NJ W-2/W-3 in a state that is e-File mandatory.  It is going to take hours to manually enter every employee name, address, gross wages, withholding and all the DOL taxes.  This a huge issue if true.   Any commentary from moderators?

Filing w2/NJ-W-3

I'm here to share details about filing state (NJ) W-2/W-3 in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), @lesfod7.

Depending on your state, you can either create your W-2s and upload Copy 1 directly to the agency or file them electronically with QBDT Payroll. However, with the state of NJ, you'll have to manually e-file your W2/W3s directly to the agency.

For the detailed instructions, please refer to this article: Specifications for Reporting W-2 Information via Electronic Filing.

Also, to learn more about when and how to submit your W-2 forms to the federal and state agencies and answer the most commonly asked questions about them, I'd recommend checking out these articles:

Let me know if you have other payroll concerns and questions about Form W-2s in QBDT. You can drop a comment below, and I'll gladly help. Take care, and I wish you continued success, @lesfod7.

Actually, we were both wrong.  You can e-File NJ W-2 and NJ W-3 in Desktop Payroll same as the Federal W-2/W-3.  My mistake originally is that I tried to e-File the NJ W-3 before the NJ W-2.  The error I got was extremely generic and was no help at all--so I assumed that like 2020, e-Filing for NJ was not available.  But I finally thought to try the NJ W-2 and it worked.  After that, I e-Filed the NJ W-3 and that worked as well.  I presume the problem was that the NJ W-2 had to be e-Filed first.

Hi, how did you accomplish this because I only get the option to print the NJ-W3.  I also only see a NJ-W2 worksheet not an actual NJ-W2 form. Thank you

I use QB Desktop 2021.

Yes, looks like again, this year it's not available.

It's such a tedious job to enter manually at the state website.  It takes hours for company with many employees.

I was able to submit my NJ W2 worksheet and W3 for one of my clients then the next one I tried is print only.

The phone help is no longer available so not sure how to get this fixed.

Let's fix the error you're having to submit the Forms W-2 and W-3 for all of your clients, @NJBEACON

Can you tell me more about the payroll product that you're using when filing for your NJ W-2 worksheet and W-3?

At this time, you'll have to manually e-file your W2/W3s directly to the state of New Jersey. Check this link for more information about the State of New Jersey’s requirements for filing W-2: State of New Jersey's instructions

For more information about creating your W-2s and uploading Copy 1 directly to your state agency, or file them electronically depending on your state, refer to this article: File your state W-2s with Quickbooks Desktop Payroll Enhanced.
