Hi @ANGLRN8TN,
It sounds like you don't have the option to generate the 1099 form from within your QuickBooks Online (QBO). In that case, you can run a custom report to export your vendor information to your accountant.
You can run a custom Transaction List by Vendor report. Filter it, so only your contractors with 1099 transactions are included. See this article for more details about the customization process: Customize reports in QuickBooks Online.
When ready, click the Export button, then select Export to Excel. At this point, you can proceed with sending the Excel file to your accountant to process your 1099 form.
If you have other questions about 1099s, place them in the comments below. I'll be around to provide further assistance.
I do not see and option to filter for 1099 tracking.
Hi there, @ANGLRN8TN.
I’m here to help with your 1099 Transaction Detail Report.
In addition to my colleague's response, you will need to start the Prepare 1099’s process. The reason for this is to assign a form for the Vendors (i.e., 1099-NEC, 1099-Misc, etc.).
Here’s how:
Choosing Accounts for 1099 Tracking and Reports
Once you have worked through adding that to the Vendor, you can cancel or exit out of the 1099 wizard, and your report will populate. Then Export either to Excel or PDF.
Additionally, you can check this article to learn which payments should be excluded from the 1099-MISC and 1099-NEC form: What payments are excluded from a 1099-NEC and 1099-MISC?
If you have any other questions I can assist with, just let me know. Anytime I can help.
I followed these instructions and it does not offer any sort of export that allows me to save the information to excel. It will only allow me to print the 1099's. I have looked everywhere and there is not a way I have found to solve this very simple problem.
Let me show you how to get a copy of your 1099s to send it to your CPA, @ANGLRN8TN.
At this time, you can only generate a PDF file version of 1099 that you've generated. You'll just have on the Download icon when you're on the Print preview page.
Here's how to download your 1099:

We have finished processing our 1099's but can't see an option to download all processed 1099's but only a way to save each one individually. How can we do one download for all processed 1099's? thanks
I'd be delighted to assist you in downloading your 1099s, @jacobs1779. We'll need to access your QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) account and download the forms from there.
Here's how:
You can go over this reference for more details: Fill out a W-9 and view your 1099-MISC in QuickBooks Self-Employed. From there, you'll also learn how to process the W-9 for your clients.

As QB Online does not provide filing with each state, we are required to do this on our own. Our state requires an uploaded CSV file with 1099 information as we have over 1000 contractors. Where can the 1099 information be exported to csv so that we can then upload ourselves to meet state requirements. None of the above solutions work AT ALL to export 1099 data to csv. If QB does not handle the state filing, it needs to provide a method for exporting the 1099 data. We do not want to type in contractor data for 1000s of workers if this data is housed in QB already. Please provide detailed instructions on how to EXPORT 1099 data to csv with screenshots please.
Thank you for joining the thread, @ASR2000.
Allow me to help you to achieve your goal today. At the moment, the ability to export 1099s data directly to a CSV file is unavailable in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
As a workaround, we'll need to run the 1099 Transaction Detail Report. This report allows viewing your 1099 data and exporting it to excel.

Thank you Bryan for your response and willingness to assist.
The issue is that our online version does NOT have a 1099 Transaction Report to select. Is there a reason it would not? Using the custom option as someone answered above does not offer any filtering for 1099 vendors either- so that option does not work.
Please see the attachment and the options offered in the dropbox under Transaction search. If I search 1099, nothing appears in the dropbox. All of the answers refer to this report but there is not one??
Thanks for keeping us updated, @ASR2000.
The 1099 Transaction Detail report will pull the transactions that have been mapped to a box when preparing the 1099 forms. As long as you’ve finished the process, you should be able to access the said report in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
There are times unexpected behavior like missing features are caused by browser-related issues. Online platforms like QBO collects cache files to save time and improve your browsing experience. However, it can slow things down once they become outdated or corrupted, which affects the program's functionalities.
You can perform some troubleshooting steps to sort this out. First, open your account in a private or incognito window for testing. You can use the shortcut keys below for quick navigation:
After logging in, check the report. If it’s now available, get back to your regular browser and clear its cache. Doing this helps the program to run smoothly. You can also use other supported browsers as an alternative.
If the issue persists, I recommend contacting our support team to investigate it further. Our representatives have enough tools to verify the cause and can provide more solutions.
Once settled, you can use this reference to learn about your state's requirements for filing 1099s: File your state 1099 forms.
Please get back to this thread if you need further assistance with your reports, especially your 1099 information. I’ll be here anytime. Always take care!
