Many times when a holiday falls on a Monday if the prior Friday is slow we like to treat the employees with early release. We still want them to accrue PTO during this time but would really like to be able to have them do a separate entry for this. Is there a code I can set up for PTO and call it early release? We use Quickbooks Online Payroll. If I try to create the code within Quickbooks time it states it won't sync with Quickbooks payroll?

Whenever you process payroll for that employee, you can select the PTO code you created to account for the PTO. The amount you enter for this pay type will be included in the employee's paycheck calculations.

Thank you for your assistance.
Since this happens so rarely, and we don't want PTO accrual to stop for the hours they are released, I actually went about it a different way. My people use the timesheets tab, they don't clock in and out they make line entries. So I had them use the manual timecard tab, click on the add time button, and they enter the date, the hours and a note that says EARLY RELEASE. We don't require the use of client codes so they don't enter anything in that box and they save. This then creates a separate line item on their timesheet to account for the hours without making it look like they worked more hours than they did. Additionally, I like the idea that this then notes they are still being paid yet not physically at work. This way just works better than us than creating a new code for a situation that only happens 3 or 4 times a year but thank you, the information was useful for future purposes.
Kind regards,
Lisa
