how do I edit an employee W2 for 2019 ?

I can guide you on how to edit your employee's W2, @shloimies.

You can correct SSN in the employee's record and then reprint the W-2 form.

Here's how:

1. Go to the Employees menu and select the Employee Center.
2. Double-click the employee name.
3. Choose the Personal Info tab.
4. Change the employee's SSN and then click OK.
5. After, print the W-2 form.

If you already filed the W-2 form with an incorrect SSN, ensure to file an amended W-2 form (W-2C) with the IRS. If your employee has already filed their personal income tax, they need the amended W-2 form to amend their personal income tax returns. I need to do exactly what you explained but I don't have an employee center or personal tab.  I have the QB Online version so I'm assuming we are using different platforms.  Please advise.

The steps provided by my colleague are for QuickBooks Desktop. I can walk you through the steps on how to modify an employee SSN in QuickBooks Online.  

Here how: 

1. Click the Payroll, and select Employees. 
2. Double-click the employee name, Then tap Edit employee.
3. Press Edit icon next to What are [employee] withholdings?.
4. Update the Social Security number.
5. Hit Save then Done.
