How do I go into my QB and give an employee a raise?

It’s nice to see you in the Community, jayden27.

I’m here to help and guide you on how to give an employee a raise. We’ll have to add another pay rate and use it when creating a paycheck.

In QuickBooks Online, you can either create an hourly rate or other earnings to increase the employee’s pay. Let me show the step by step process for each one.

To set up the hourly rate:

  1. Go to the Workers tab to choose Employees.
  2. Click on the employee's name you’re working on.
  3. This will open another page.
  4. From there, navigate to How much do you pay section and then tap the Pencil icon.

  5. Press the Add an hourly rate link and add a name in the field box to identify the payroll item.

  6. Key in the amount and press Done to keep the changes.

For other earnings:

  1. Tap the Workers menu to select Employees.
  2. Choose the employee from the list that received a raise.
  3. In the Edit employee details window, click + Add additional pay types link in the How much do you pay section.

  4. Click on Even more ways to pay Employee to expand the option.
  5. From there, mark Other Earnings and add a name to easily identify the pay type.

  6. Press Done to save it.

After following the resolution, the column for the payroll will show when running payroll.
