Buy nowI can provide information about our new beta technology (Intuit Assist), topataco. Currently, the option to disable the AI assistance is unavailable. This feature is intended for new users to guide them in using QuickBooks Online.
As of this moment, you can choose to click the Ignore button, or not to click the Intuit Assist button. This prevents the AI from auto-inputting information on the fields.
To help our product cater more needs of our customers, I suggest sending feedback to our team. The product development team will review your suggestion for future enhancement.

Thank you for your reply. Please consider an option to permanently disable. Generative AI has hurt my company by using unauthorized artwork and it is fraught with incorrect information. This sort of technology shouldn't be rolled out so haphazardly.
Please develop a new button that disables AI FOREVER.
I understand that your developers want to play with new features. Please make these 'opt-in', so that regular users are not bothered by this AI nonsense. I'm paying to have a functioning accounting package, don't need anymore toys that just interfere with my productivity. If someone wants them: great, let them opt-in.
This is an excellent reason to switch to Freshbooks. I have had over a dozen interruptions while working on my books. For the love of God, make an opt-out option.
Sadly, QBO doesn't seem to listen to its audience and paying subscribers. It just does what it wants, let's some AI or otherwise-scripted response pass for customer service and continues to roll out updates that no one appreciates and retire functions people actually used. AI is not the goal of the average small business. If it will ever become something we can't live without, who knows. Right now, it's just another way for of mega-businesses to waste time trying to save time.
@jananthonyL AI has been changing my invoice templates, and pops up in all of the platform. This is VERY disruptive and unpleasant, as it is being imposed on the users. Please make it an optional feature. We are considering changing platforms.
It's so insulting that it's not opt in. I just got an email that my yearly subscription is increasing by $400 to include these great new AI features, which despite my significant ethical issues with AI I attempted to use since apparently paying for them isn't optional??? And the AI bill and invoice entry features are terrible. They make enough mistakes and leave enough fields blank that I have to go over every bill manually every time. So I'm paying $400 extra a year, not to mention the environmental toll all AIs take, for a machine that's worse at basic data entry than my kids would be.
Good afternoon, @ajk4.

Wow, Intuit. Forcing AI down our throats. I am looking to change to another platform, as the interruptions in my day-to-day bookkeeping business is ridiculous and insulting. Please consider an option to turn it OFF!!!
I agree, the interruptions and constant need to hit the "X" to remove some stupid attempt to sell me a feature I do not need or shove AI down my throat is ridiculous.
I know, in order for a software writer to pad the resume, there has to be an AI element to their work. But the vast majority of us just want a basic software package.
My Quickbooks 2014 Desktop did everything I needed, and did it better, with better forms, etc., than the latest & greatest version of online. In 2022, I was forced to go to the online, the 2014 version kept crashing my new computers. First I was told it would be $47 a month, but , oh, you need that option, then it will be $80 a month. Since then, it has steadily increased in price to now $115 a month (before taxes, I am sure) for a software that doesn't meet my needs.
If your AI was so smart, it would default to today's date when I went to enter time on a project, not to last week, or tomorrow.
RE: My Quickbooks 2014 Desktop did everything I needed, and did it better, with better forms, etc., than the latest & greatest version of online.
You've it the nail on the head!
Based on Intuit's track record, QuickBooks Desktop will always be faster, more capable, more stable, and with better features than QuickBooks Online.
Intuit has had 25 years to make QuickBooks Online as good as QuickBooks Desktop. They haven't. And I don't think they every will. This suggests to me that they can't. It suggests that something is so wrong with the entire idea of using a browser to do your accounting, or something is so wrong with QuickBooks Online, that they can't pull it off - or they would have by now.
Unfortunately, they removed features from the latest versions of Quickbook Desktop so it could no longer handle the same functions as Quickbooks 2014. I think this was related to the fact that I had the Services Edition.
The Online version has several basic issues, outside of the fact that the software writers have no clue how a business works. Maybe they know accounting really well, but definitely not business flow.
Example: My workflow is, I add a new customer, I log time against that customer, I invoice that customer. I may literally do all of that with the customer sitting across the desk from me, maybe over the course of days.
Quickbooks process: When you add a new customer, they add that to one of their databases. When you go to log time or materials against that customer, they may not have transferred that new customer to the database for time or materials. It may take 30 seconds, it may take 15 minutes. It may take even longer, sometimes I have to give up and go do something else, I can't just sit and wait for the database to update. Once I had time to the database, it may take a significant amount of time, it was over 30 minutes the other day, before it actually gets logged so I can invoice the time. I am WAITING ON THE COMPUTER, something the users should never have to do.
In the Desktop version, all of my data was located on one computer, and MY COMPUTER WAS WAITING ON ME TO USE THE DATA.
I am not sure if the software gurus are accounting experts, just software geeks, but they definitely are not familiar with running a real business.
Did Quickbooks bother to poll its customers and find out whether we even WANT or need AI??? Just hopping on the bandwagon providing a service that everyone hates, way to go. As a creative services professional, I have serious issues with AI and DO NOT WANT TO USE IT, especially in my accounting software. It's enough to make me leave QBO altogether and find a different way to manage my books. At the very least, give us the option to OPT OUT or PERMANENTLY DISABLE AI.
