I know how to remove a task from the QuickBooks Online dashboard, @Keith1003

The Auto-file feature is likely enabled on the Payroll Settings reason why the tasks show even if you filed W2s directly to the SSA website.

Archiving the tasks prevents them from displaying as unnecessary reminders. Here's how you can do it:

  1. Open the Taxes menu.
  2. Go to Payroll Tax.
  3. Choose the Filings tab.
  4. Next to the tax form you want to save or archive then hit File.
  5. Pick the period, then select Archive.

For more details about how to manage past forms, see this: Access payroll tax forms and tax payments.

Once you're good, see this additional article that includes paying and filing payroll taxes is also discussed here: Payroll Tax Compliance Links.

Hi again,

All of the payroll reports + forms are set to "Manually File", but the W-2 reminder remains.  No such problem with the F-941 form or state reports.  Pressing the "File" button makes it appear to be complete, only to return the next time we use QuickBooks Online.  In addition, it will show a message indicating that the Social Security Admin has rejected the report.  I know the forms were filed on time, so this is an annoyance.  Any other ideas?
