QuickBooks can automatically do the sales tax calculations for you on your invoices and receipts for easy and accurate filings.
To add a tax rate and agency:
- From the left menu, select Taxes.
- Under the Related Tasks list on the right, select Add/edit tax rates and agencies.
- Choose New and choose either a single tax rate.
- Enter a name for the tax, Tennessee as the agency you pay, and the percentage for the rate.
- Select Save.
You can also switch to automated sales tax by following these steps:
- Go to Taxes, then select Sales Tax.
- Select Make the switch.
- Select the pencil icon ✎ to update the address, if done choose Looks good.
- Match the official tax agency with the existing agency you set up.
- Select your filing frequency.
- When you’re done, select Next.
- Select Go to taxes to see your new sales tax center.
