How do you merge duplicate worksites in payroll?

Hey DaweCo,

Thank you for returning to the QuickBooks Community! With QuickBooks Online, the ability to merge and delete duplicate worksites is unavailable. However, you could deactivate it by following these steps below:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and click Payroll Settings.
  2. Click Work Locations under Company and Account.
  3. Click the location that belongs to.
  4. Check the box for Inactive.
  5. Click Save.

If you are not able to do this, please contact our Support Team to take a deeper look. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Help menu.
  2. Hit the Contact Us button
  3. Enter "callback" in the "What can we help you with?" section.
  4. Select "Let's Talk"
  5. Pick the "Get a call" option to connect with us.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can do! You are always welcomed in the Community! Take care and be safe!

Thanks for your reply, DaweCo.

To verify, are you subscribed to Payroll Core, Premium, or Elite? If so, I recommend contacting our Payroll Support Team. They can review your account and help you with the work locations.

Here are the steps:

  1. Click the Help icon located in the upper right-hand corner.
  2. In the Help window, click the Contact Us button located at the bottom.
  3. Enter your question and click Let's talk.
  4. Choose either Start a chat or Call us.

For the new QuickBooks Assistant help update, you can follow these steps:

  1. In your QuickBooks Online account, go to the Help > Assistant.
  2. Type Talk to a human and click the Contact a human button.
  3. Select Live Chat / Call me back.

If you're using the standard payroll, you can follow the troubleshooting steps below. This helps isolate any browser-related issues.

To start, open your account in an incognito or private browser. This mode prevents your browsing history from being stored. You can use the keyboard shortcuts below:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl Shift N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl Shift P
  • Safari: Command Option P

Next, click the Gear > Payroll Settings. If you see the Work Locations option under Company and Account, you can go back to your regular browser and clear its cache. Finally, restart your browser to refresh the settings.

Here's a sample screenshot of what the payroll settings look like for the standard payroll:

Using a different supported browser is also a good alternative.

Please keep in touch with me here if there's anything else you need. I'll be around to help you out again. Take care!
