How does an employee clock in using the kiosk without attaching the hours to a customer?

You'll want to get in touch with our QuickBooks Time Care team to assign individual customers to certain employees. This process will unassign all customers from your team members, except for the admin user.

 

Here's how:

  1. Get in touch with our Customer Care team.
  2. Once you're with an agent and have verified your account, let them know you're accessing the QuickBooks Payroll tab in your upper right-hand corner.
  3. Click to Preferences.
  4. Inform the agent you're turning off your Assign Imported Customers as sub-customers to all team members option, then turn it off. This will ensure as customers sync over, they won't be auto-assigned to employees.
  5. If necessary, let the your support agent know to go to Customers, More, then select Remove Global Assignment for all Customers.
  6. After the support agent completes the previous step, you'll be able to assign individual customers to specific team members.

 

You can also add a customer in QuickBooks Time and title it "Work", "Office", or any name you prefer. This way, employees only have that to choose, instead of an actual customer.

I do not understand why the developers have made it so difficult to unassign customers to employees in the Time app.  This seems to be a recurring issue with QBO.  Every task is made more complicated than it needs to be and the formatting is not at all user friendly.  I'm really regretting switching to QBO from the desktop version.  My experience really feels like I downgraded products instead of upgrading.
