Glad to see you in the Community, PaulG4.

Thanks for being part of the Online family. I’ll be your guide today so you can import the.QBB files into the QBO.

Before performing any troubleshooting, allow me to share details about importing files into the online version. QuickBooks Online imports only QBO, CSV, OFX, and QFX file formats. Since the QBB files are compressed backup files of QBW (standard) QuickBooks Desktop files, download a trial version for the desktop program. Then, use it to migrate or import the QBB file to your online company.

Let me share the Download a trial of QuickBooks Desktop guide to get the link. Make sure your computer meets the system requirements to seamlessly install the software. Once done, you can start with the import process. Here’s how:

  1. Log in as the admin to the company file you’re working on.
  2. Go to the Company menu and choose Export Company File to QuickBooks Online.

  3. Select Start your export.
  4. Sign in as the admin to your QuickBooks Online account.

  5. Indicate if you want to import inventory into the online program. Yes to bring them over, then specify the as of date or No, if you want to set up new items later in QuickBooks Online.

  6. Pick the QuickBooks Online company that you want the data to import to from the drop-down list.
  7. Tap Continue to enter “Agree” in the text field.
  8. Choose the Replace option then click Yes.
  9. Press Yes, go ahead and replace the data and hit Replace.

The following information will get the .QBB files imported QBO in no time.

Check out the Move your QuickBooks Desktop file to QuickBooks Online guide for more details. It contains a tutorial for visual reference and complete instructions to move the desktop file to the online version.
