I have 2 old Federal Unemployment "pay taxes" reminders showing up, but each time I try and pay, it says "taxes not due at this time" How do I get this cleared?

I had quickbooks payroll previously and had cancelled it for about a year. These reminders are from the last time I had payroll and were already paid manually.

Hello there, @john163!

You'll want to manually record the tax payment directly from the Taxes window so you can remove the notification.

  1. Go to Taxes.
  2. Select Payroll Tax.
  3. Under Payroll Tax Center, select Pay Taxes.
  4. Next to the taxes due, select Record Payment.
  5. Click Record Payment.

In addition, here's an article you can read to learn more about manually recording a tax payment: Pay payroll taxes electronically or manually.

Lastly, I've got you these helpful articles to help manage your payroll account and transactions: Help Articles for QuickBooks Online Payroll.

Keep me posted in the comments if you have any other questions. I'll be happy to help.

Thank you for the information, unfortunately none of that works. I click make a payment and I get a window pop up saying no taxes due and that "we'll adjust your tax liability accordingly" but the reminders continue to show up every week.

Thanks for keeping us updated, john163.

In this case, I would recommend contacting our Payroll Support Team. They'll take a closer look at this and help you remove remove the reminder. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Help menu and click Contact Us.
  2. Let them know that you need help with an old payroll tax payment reminder, then click Let's talk.
  3. Choose between Message an agent or Get a callback.

You can also run a Payroll Tax Payments report to see all the recorded payments that you've made so far. Just go to the Reports menu and look for Payroll Tax Payments.

The Community is always here if you need anything else.

Hello there, @gprentals10.

May I know if you’re able to record the tax payments in QBO? If yes, we’ll have to access your account review the payroll information.

The process requires the collection of sensitive information which I’m unable to perform in the Community for security reasons. We always prioritize the safety of our customers’ data, so I recommend you get in touch with our Payroll Support Team.

One of our specialists can review all tax payments in a secure space. Aside from that, they have tools to help trace the cause and its permanent solution.

Here’s how to contact them:

  1. Tap the Help menu to access the Search window.
  2. From there, scroll down to choose the Contact us link.
  3. In another window, type the issue/topic in the field box and hit the Let’s talk button.
  4. Choose Start messaging or Get a callback.

However, if you haven’t recorded the payroll tax payment, I suggest following the solution provided by @JonpriL.

For future reference, let me share the Get started link. It contains a breakdown of our self-help articles about the payroll processes.

Stay in touch if you need further assistance while working in QBO. I’m more than happy to help and make sure you’re taken care of. Enjoy the rest of the day.
