I just efiled my 1099s through Quickbooks but I missed one, can I add it after the fact? (still prior to the deadline)

Hello, nlinsdell.

Welcome to the Community. I'd be happy to provide some information on your question about entering an additional 1099 after e-filing.

To answer your question, yes, you can add the missed 1099. This can be done by:

1. Clicking the Workers tab in the left navigation bar.

2. Select Contractors.

3. Choose Prepare 1099s.

I've got a great article for you that covers the e-file service setup, troubleshooting, and FAQs. You can check it out here: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/community/Employees-and-payroll-taxes/1099-E-File-Service-QuickBooks-O....

Keep up the great work and please let me know if you have any other questions.

It looks as if it will duplicate the 1099's I already filed if I resubmit that way?

Hi there, shelli5683.

Thanks for reaching out to the Community. No, It won't duplicate as long as you select the correct vendor you missed to file 1099. Just in case, here they are:

  1. Go to Expenses and select the Vendors tab.
  2. Choose Prepare 1099s.
  3. Once routed to the next page, click the Continue your 1099s.
  4. Follow the next steps for filing.

You can check this article for complete instructions when preparing and filing the 1099's using QuickBooks Online. This reference also includes steps to check your filing status.

Please let me know if you have other 1099 questions. It's our pleasure to be of great help. Have a good one!
