I need to take additional withholding out of an employee's paycheck. How do I set this up?

I have all of the payroll items setup, and I've gone through editing Federal withholding and don't see any options.  The W4 form I attached isn't actually connected to anything.

Additional withholding is on the federal tax tab right next to the other options that match the W-4.

Can you be more specific about which screen this is in.  I have never seen a federal tax tab.

If you have never used the tax set up area for employees, and you use QB for payroll, it does not seem possible that your payroll is set up properly.  Each time an employee completes a W-4 you have to use this area of QB to match their information.

I don't think I can be be more specific. The graphic attached to the answer shows all you need to see, each access point highlighted in yellow.

I am in the process of converting from Quickbooks Online to Quickbooks Desktop.  I went through the payroll setup to do that.

I guess it works the same if I want to do a state deduction?  HoweverI tried doing that but did not see the change in the paycheck - What went wrong?

Don't know.  The states work the same as fed.
