I think I chose the wrong version of QB and don’t know how to change it. We are a small non-profit, and it looks like I purchased QB for a for-profit business. ??

I know how important it is to ensure your account is set up correctly, MollyD. I'm here to help you change to a nonprofit.

QuickBooks Online lets you choose the company type that fits your organization's needs. I'd suggest updating your account to a nonprofit to ensure it uses correct terms, reports, and forms.

 Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and then select Account and settings.
  2. Select Advanced.
  3. In Company type, select Edit.
  4. Click the Tax form drop-down menu, then choose Nonprofit organization (Form 990).
  5. Select Save, then Done.
  6. Sign out and sign back in to see the changes reflected throughout QuickBooks.

After making the necessary changes, the Invoice will now show as Pledge. Also, common reports for nonprofits, such as the Statement of Activity and the Statement of Financial Position, can be accessed.

In a nonprofit organization, customers are donors. Here's how to change the label:

  1. From the Gear icon, select Account and settings.
  2. Select Advanced.
  3. Click Edit in Other preferences.
  4. Select the Customer label drop-down menu, then choose Donors.
  5. Select Save, then Done.

For more details, please see this article: Configure an Account for a Nonprofit Organization.

Once done configuring your account, you can now start tracking donations to your organization.

I'm only a post away if you need more help in completing your other tasks in QuickBooks, MollyD. It's always my pleasure to help you out again.
