Looking for solutions to resolve liability accounts showing as unpaid when in fact paid in QB Desktop payroll. Transferred from QuickBooks Online (with payroll) to QuickBooks Desktop, with Enhanced payroll. When the payroll carried over, it created open liability accounts in the payroll center. However, when you view the actual liability account it shows the tax payment was made and the balance is zero. QB Support started zeroing out the open liabilities to remove them, which resulted in errors in the employee check taxes, resulting in a shortage and then overtaxed them on the next payroll. Has anyone had this issue when switching from online to desktop? Is there an easy solution to clear the open liabilities in the payroll center and then perhaps manually correct the employee taxes?

Thanks for the details, HC2.
I can help you with your concerns.
First, the pay period and the liability period are not included when you moved to QuickBooks Desktop. With that said, it will create an open liability account. We’ll have to enter a historical tax payment to clear that.
For more information, you can check this article: Enter historical tax payments.
Then for the employee’s tax, you’re correct. You’ll have to manually modify their payroll taxes. You'll need to create an adjustment to do this.
For the detailed steps, you can browse this article: Adjust payroll liabilities.
Keep me posted if you need my help in doing these processes. Thank you!
