New Jersey W2 Filing 2021

I would like to know how to create the W2/W3 file for NJ to upload to Axway (NJ's Portal) - using Quickbooks Desktop.  Thanks.

New Jersey W2 Filing 2021

I'm here to share details about filing state (NJ) W-2/W-3 in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), @MarianneNJ.

Depending on your state, you can either create your W-2s and upload Copy 1 directly to the agency or file them electronically with QBDT Payroll. However, with the state of NJ, you'll have to manually e-file your W2/W3s directly to the agency.

With this, I'd recommend pulling up a payroll report (i.e., Payroll Summary). It'll serve as your reference when filing your state W-2s online. Go to the Reports menu and select Employees & Payroll.

For the detailed instructions, please refer to this article: Specifications for Reporting W-2 Information via Electronic Filing.

Also, to learn more about when and how to submit your W-2 forms to the federal and state agencies and answer the most commonly asked questions about them, I'd recommend checking out these articles:

Let me know if you have other payroll concerns and questions about Form W-2s in QBDT. You can drop a comment below, and I'll gladly help. Take care, and I wish you continued success, @MarianneNJ.

New Jersey W2 Filing 2021

Quickbooks had a year to fix this issue! If you look back at the responses from Admin in Jan 2021 we were assured that they were working to fix this.  Now it’s a year later and Quickbooks still can not file NJ W-2/W-3 or give us a .txt file to upload to NJ.

Did NJ give you an Axway login?  They would not give me one.  They told me you needed to have at least 100 employees before they would give you an account.

I have 6 clients with a total of 80 W-2’s that will need to manually be entered on the NJ Div of Taxation website because Quickbooks ignored the NJ filing requirement. Not acceptable!

I have searched for a program to convert a PDF into a .txt  document.  Has anyone found a work around?  Another CPA I know PAPER filed the W-2’s and W-3’s with NJ but had the client sign them and did not say they were professionally prepared.  He did that last year too and has not received any notices.

QuickBooks…. I have used you since you were DOS with a black screen and orange numbers.  29 years.  This is completely unacceptable and will make me recommend a payroll service to clients going forward.  You had a year to fix this.  If I didn’t fix something for a year…. My client would fire me!  And I would deserve it.  This is disgraceful and I want to know why you didn’t feel it deserved your attention.
