Good morning, @labels1

I appreciate you coming back and hate to hear that those troubleshooting steps didn't work for you. We want to narrow down the cause and get you a solution as soon as possible.

Let's use the steps below to help fix the problem once and for all:

  1. In Single-User mode, go to Update QuickBooks (in the help menu).
  2. Check "Reset Update" and click "Get Updates."
  3. Once it is finished, close QuickBooks.
  4. Restart (right click, "run as administrator").
  5. Select Pay Employees; you will go through the Overtime setup again, click Finish.

This should do the trick. Feel free to reach back out to let me know how these instructions go. I'll be waiting for your response!

Hi there, Labels1!

This isn't the kind of experience that I'd wish you to have while working with the newly implemented feature in QuickBooks Desktop Payroll. Let’s go through some troubleshooting steps to help resolve this and ensure you can save your work successfully.

Before proceeding, please ensure that you update QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release. Keeping your software up to date allows you to access the newest features and enhancements.

Additionally, make sure you have downloaded the latest payroll tax table update for QuickBooks Desktop, as this is essential for smooth payroll functionality.

With that said, let's use the QuickBooks Tool Hub to isolate the issue. This tool is designed to help resolve common system issues efficiently.

Here's how:

  1. Exit QuickBooks.
  2. Download the latest version of the QuickBooks Tool Hub and save it in an accessible location like your Downloads folder or desktop. If you've downloaded it before, check if it's up-to-date by selecting the Home tab located at the bottom menu.
  3. Run the downloaded QuickBooksToolHub.exe.
  4. Then, complete the installation following the on-screen prompts.
  5. Double-click the icon on your desktop to launch the Tool Hub.

You can also check this page for further information: Run Quick Fix my Program from the QuickBooks Tool Hub.

If you still need further assistance, please don't hesitate to leave a post below.

None of that worked. Please release a update to revert back to the previous QB version or we will not be able to pay our workers

Great to hear resetting the updates download resolved it. That's a solid troubleshooting win. Moving to the update reset was a good step.

Hi there, mnall.

I know how essential it is to process payroll promptly to ensure employees are paid accurately and on time.

Beforehand, is your issue the same concern as the one mentioned above? If so, I recommend following the steps provided by my colleague Candice on resetting updates to ensure you can run payroll for employees.

If you meant something else, please add more details below.

We just tried what you suggested, and it didn't work.  The reset failed trying to do an update.  I have been on the phone music for over an hour and a half waiting for support.

SINGLE USER MODE WORKED FOR US.  Thank god I figured it out.

What do you mean by, "you will go through the Overtime setup again?" I followed your steps, and nothing changed. When I clicked on Pay Employees, I was not taken to setup. The Qualified OT Tracking still adds all hours, even if an employee works no overtime. I still have to change the hours to the number of OT hours actually worked.

We appreciate you for following the troubleshooting steps mentioned in this thread, Steven.

Since the Qualified OT Tracking feature is still incorrectly adding hours even when an employee hasn't worked overtime, I recommend contacting our live support team. They have the tools to investigate the issue further and help identify the root cause.

I'll show you how you can reach them:

  1. Go to Help, then select QuickBooks Desktop Help/Contact Us.
  2. Hit Contact Us.
  3. Give a brief description of your issue, then Continue.
  4. Sign in to your Intuit account,  choose Continue, and then Continue with my account.
  5. We'll email you a single-use code. Enter your code and select Continue.
  6. Click chat with us or Have us call you.

Check out their operation hours to determine their availability.
