Pay date is always wrong

Support has not been able to help with this. My pay date has always been every other saturday, it is set this way in Intuit payroll and says it in big letters at the top every time I go to run payroll. However, the pay date is always wrong, usually Friday but sometimes a Thursday or even a Sunday once. The only way I found out is I went in to pay taxes and it said I was past due. I knew I wasn't and investigated, I was late for the date on the checks. It had been happening since March. Now I have to go in and manually change the pay date every single payday or delete the payroll and redo it. Even if I do catch the date thing (I've been doing this for 20 years without checking the check date so I forget a lot), if I have an edit it changes the date back to whatever whacked out date it wants. Quickbooks can't figure it out and have insisted the date on the check doesn't matter because it is set to every other Saturday but it does change my due date on taxes (they insist it does not) and I'm worried the IRS or Indiana is going to wonder why my pay date kept changing for 6 months. Any ideas?

Pay date is always wrong

Hello there, Ovaltine. I can see this can be a challenging experience for you, and I hope you didn't go through all of this.

QuickBooks Online adheres to the Doctrine of Constructive receipt, which means taxes will be reported when the employee is paid regardless of the work period. You can check the Indiana Payroll Tax Compliance hyperlink to find details on tax forms withholdings, unemployment and other tax, e-file and pay information, general state and agency information, and employer registration.

You may also consider contacting our Payroll support again. They have tools, like screen-sharing, and check further why your pay date keeps changing.

In addition, check our year-end guide to ensure you're good to go before the end of the filing season. You can get it from here: Year-end Checklist For QuickBooks Online Payroll.

You're always welcome to post again if you have additional questions about managing your payroll. I'm just a post away. Have a good one!
