Paylocity integration

We are in the process of starting with Paylocity. We have a retail grocery store with only one location.

I am having trouble with the integration of general ledger data. We do not use class tracking (payroll) but we do use job costing and item tracking (accounting) as our QB preferences. Paylocity is telling me that QB doesn't support Job Costing on the IIF journal entry imports (now they tell me, 2 months into this nightmare!) and that it would be best to use Classes in order to track the Department allocations.

If I change our preferences to Classes will that mess up our data from the past years?

In searching this site for help it appears that any reference to Paylocity, QB says to contact them for help and Paylocity says to contact QB. Typical.

Thanks.

Paylocity integration

I’ve got some information for you about the integration and Class tracking feature in QuickBooks, Elise.

Concerning third-party integration, QuickBooks Desktop only relies on the data that Paylocity shares. That said, you’ll want to contact their support team on how your data can be imported to the program.

Your past transactions won’t be messed up when you change your preferences to Classes. It’ll only be applied and assigned to your current transactions right after the changes.

You can refer to this guide to learn more about class tracking and how to utilize it: Set up and use class tracking in QuickBooks Desktop.

Then, you can use this information to track the department allocations you have: Filter, sort or total reports by Class.

If you have any other questions or concerns about the QuickBooks Class tracking feature, please don’t hesitate to tap the Reply button below. I’ll be here to help. Always take care!
