Buy nowAfter upgrading to 2020 Pro, I could only recover a company file from 6/1/2020, so I have several missing pay periods worth of data. How do I recover these or find the information to enter so my reports and forms are correct? Thanks in advance!
I can help you with that, EssentialPackMule.
It could be that your most recent company file was moved or renamed that's why you're unable to recover it. We can perform a wild card search to locate your company file.
This is an advanced search technique that can be used to maximize your search results in library databases. We can start by going to your server computer, then enter these following keywords in the search bar:
Please make sure to include the asterisk symbol before the extension type so that the search works correctly.
Once you've found it, take note of the file's location and then open or restore the file in QuickBooks Desktop.
However, if you're still unable to locate it, I'd recommend contacting your local IT support to help locate the company file.
I've also included an article that will guide you in retrieving missing customized templates and logos from a restored backup.

Hi there! I have since ran payroll so I only want to import the old payroll information from 6/1/20 until 8/26/20. How I would I do this?
It's nice to have you back, @EssentialPackMule,
There are a few ways to import your old payroll data into QuickBooks. First, you can consider looking for the most recent backup of the company file which includes the 6/1/20 until 8/26/20 data. You can use the steps provided by KlentB to find the .QBB file, then restore it in the upgraded file.
Restoring a backup will replace the data on the current file and will only display what information has been backed up previously.
However, if you don't want this option, you can use a third party importer tool to save the information in the software. Check out our apps website here to find the tool that works for you: https://desktop.apps.com/home
Another way is contacting our team to help find the file for data recovery. Our agents are currently available through messaging, to contact us, use the steps below:
