Hello,
I need help! We have started with a new payroll company and they asked us to do wire transfers for the entire amount of payroll in one lump sum. I have asked them for journal entries as an IIF file, but haven't received anything. I am now trying to reconcile my bank account and I can't do it with these entries.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am a beginner at this and really don't know what I am doing.
Thanks,
Vickie
It's nice to see you in the QuickBooks Community, caryshahid. I'll be sharing details on how the IIF file works in our program. Then, to ensure you'll be routed to the right team to assist you immediately on your request.
Importing and exporting.IIF files in QuickBooks Desktop are easy including transferring payroll data as journal entries because QBDT formats the file for you.
However, creating .iif files from adapting data from another program is technically complex. Then, might be difficult if you don't have experience formatting delimited text files. With this, if the payroll you're using is from a 3rd party provider, you can reach them. This is to clarify the request you asked them for and assist you further on this matter.
Then, if the payroll is from Intuit, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Desktop Payroll Team. They have the equipment to pull up your account in a secure environment and be able to provide you the detailed data of the entries.
Additionally, you may open this article to see extra details on different things you can do using IIF: Tasks you can do with IIF files.
Lastly, you may refer to this article to view steps on how you can reconcile your accounts so they match your bank and credit card statements: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Desktop.
I want to make sure everything is taken care of for you, so please let me know if you have any other issues or concerns. I'm more than happy to assist.
The payroll company may not be able to provide an IIF file but they should, at the very least, be able to provide a journal entry so that you can enter it manually.
