Payroll set up wizard

Working through the payroll wizard in QB 2020 Premier Contractors desktop.  Trying to set up assisted payroll.  Having to do most of it manually as the program my client is coming from is not user friendly and the reports are so far away from an import compatible format as to be worthless.  In the payroll setup wizard.  I've made it to the historical payroll data section.  The help shows articles to help you know if you need to do it per paycheck or can do a summary entry.  Unfortunately, those articles won't load.

I can share some information about setting up payroll in QuickBooks Desktop.


The way you record the entries in the system will depend on whether you're entering year-to-date payroll data or historical data. To help you decide, I suggest you visit the Enter historical payroll data article for some clarification about it.


For QuickBooks Desktop Payroll Assisted users, I recommend contacting our Payroll Support Team. One of them will need to take over to further assist you with entering prior transactions.


Here's how you can view the support details:


  1. Open QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. Go to Help, then select QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  3. Select Contact Us.
  4. Enter your concern, then select Continue.
  5. Choose a way to connect with us:
    • Start messaging with a support expert.
    • Get a callback from the next available expert.
